Dear RDGA Delegates,

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday season and were able to enjoy some time with friends and family!

Now that the Holidays are behind us, the countdown to the 2018 golf season has begun, beginning with the release of the RDGA Tournament Schedule on January 1, continuing with the opening of tournament registration on February 15 - and the official "opening drive" of the season at the 2018 RDGA Spring Meeting on April 10 at Monroe Golf Club! (More on that, later.)

But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, I've put together a quick checklist for each of you to follow as we get ready for the new season:

- Confirm your willingness to participate again this year as your course's delegate. If you haven't already, please email me your confirmation - or, if you will be unable to serve as Delegate this year, let me know who you have in mind as your replacement. I will be in touch to follow up with you!

- Really get behind your Delegate duties this year and find a place to display and distribute RDGA information at your club - including posters, email and your club's newsletter. Getting the word out about RDGA events and programs is one of the most important responsibilities of being a Delegate!

- Send your picture to RDGA Communications Director Dave Eaton (email: [email protected]) so we can include it with your tournament posters this year. Thanks to those of you that did it last year - they looked great!

- Consider playing in an RDGA tournament this season! It's not a requirement (not many Delegates played in RDGA events last year) but being able to tell your fellow members about how much fun it is will help you tell them about it from first-hand experience.

THE 2018 RDGA TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE IS HERE! Speaking of the 2018 RDGA Tournament Schedule, all but two events have now been finalized and the schedule is available to distribute! We have many great host courses this year - including Monroe Golf Club, which is hosting the RDGA District Championship! HOWEVER, although the schedule is available, registration will not be able to begin until February 15, due to a change in USGA tournament software. SO - WE NEED YOU, our RDGA Delegates, to get the word out to your fellow members that registration begins on Feb. 15. Until then, we've prepared a handy " Save The Date" poster that includes the 2018 RDGA schedule, with a reminder to visit the website on that date to sign up for events.

RDGA NAMED AS OFFICIAL
'ALLIED GOLF ASSOCIATION' OF USGA

ONE OF ONLY 59 AGAs
RECOGNIZED BY USGA

For most of our existence, the Rochester District Golf Association has enjoyed a symbiotic relationship with the United States Golf Association. From serving as the local practitioner of the Rules of Golf, to hosting local USGA qualifying events at RDGA-Member courses, the RDGA and USGA have often partnered together in the best interests of golf in the Rochester area.

On Wednesday, January 10, that working relationship between our two organizations became official, with the announcement that the RDGA is now an official representative of the USGA - serving golfers in the Rochester area as an " Allied Golf Association," or AGA.

The announcement revealed that 59 golf associations at the state, local and regional level across the country - including he RDGA - were officially named as AGAs, beginning in 2018. This was the end result of more than a year-long screening process which sought to determine which local associations - among more than 100 such organizations throughout the U.S. - were the best fit to match the goals and mission of the USGA. In some cases, smaller associations were asked to collaborate and join forces with larger organizations to create bigger, more all-inclusive associations under the USGA banner.

We, the Board, staff and membership of the RDGA, are proud to be included among the USGA's official Allied Golf Associations. We look forward to providing our Members and Member Clubs with the best golf services and experiences available!
