Happy New Year!  Welcome to Election Year 2018
We have work to do

It is not yet February but we have already had a government shutdown, a brand new Presidential sex scandal, a terrifying nuclear false alarm in Hawaii, a fourth Continuing Resolution in lieu of a budget since the October 1 start of the budget year (with the possibility of a fifth CR in two weeks).

This week we got a long overdue six year renewal of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the promise of a hearing on codifying the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA that is the Dreamers) and one year after the first Women's March millions took to the streets here and across the globe to speak out on a range of issues that demand resistance on the 1st anniversary of this disastrous administration.

According to Emily's List, a record number of women have already expressed interest in running for office at all levels of government in 2018. Democrats have the energy, we have the enthusiasm, we have the issues (we care about people and our connections to each other) and we are determined to make this a record breaking Blue Wave Election Year! We must find Democratic Candidates for every seat up for election. Too many seats went uncontested in 2016.

If you are interested in running or know someone who would make a good candidate for the State Legislature or County Office, please contact the Platte County Democratic Central Committee. Our website is http://www.plattedems.org  email:   [email protected] .

December Events
Northland Democrats' December meeting was a social event complete with candidates, singing, games, and good food and drink.  Winston Apple entertained with some old standards.

Northland Progressive hosted a Kidmas event.   Networking, interaction and community outreach were important, but the Missouri Legislature score sheet introduced was a highlight.   Donations were accepted for Feed Northland Kids and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City.
