Quarterly EPA Seminar 

This free three-part breakfast seminar will cover solid waste, hazardous waste and Tier II reporting requirements


Solid Waste Presentation 

 Julie Brown - Summit County Public Heatlh

  • Summary of solid waste facility inspections (including landfills, compost facilities, construction and demolition debris processing facilities, infectious waste treatment facilities, and scrap tire facilities)
  • Summary of SCPH’s unused medication program and residential sharps disposal program
  • Summary of Akron’s Community Right to Know municipal code regarding storage of chemicals

Julie Brown has been with Summit County Public Health/Akron Health Department for 15 years and have been a Sanitarian Supervisor for the past 4 years.  Julie manages the Solid and Infectious Waste program as well as the non-permitting portions of the Air Quality program (asbestos, open burning and air monitoring). She also manages the Tattoo/Body Art Program.

Alexis Andrews is an Environmental Specialist at Ohio EPA in the Division of Environmental Response and Revitalization (DERR). She has been with Ohio EPA for almost three years working with the Hazardous Waste Information Management Section. Her work includes providing technical assistance to consultants, government officials, agency employees and industry on US EPA ID numbers and Hazardous Waste Permits. Lexie also provides training on new software related to hazardous waste as well as the Biennial Report. Lexie is a member of US EPA’s Permitting Expert Group, a recent graduate of The Ohio State University’s Ohio Environmental Leaders Institute, and a current member of The Ohio State University’s Young Alumni Academy. Lexie graduated from The Ohio State University earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology with a focus in Pre-Med.

 

Tier II Reporting 

Jeffrey Beattie

Environmental Supervisor - Ohio EPA

Jeffrey Beattie is an Environmental Supervisor at Ohio EPA. He is responsible for the day to day program administration, coordination and staff activities for the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to- Know (EPCRA) Program, Toxic Release Inventory Program, and the Risk Management Plan Program. He provides technical assistance to regulated statewide facilities and provides guidance to the statewide LEPCs. In addition, he administers a 2.6-million- dollar grant program under the EPCRA Program to the county Local Emergency Planning Committee’s. Jeffery earned his Bachelor of Science at The Ohio State University and his Masters in Administration at Central Michigan University.
