Metropolitan's new Assistant General Manager/Chief Administrative Officer Shane Chapman started last week. It's a new role for Shane, but he is no stranger to Metropolitan. Many employees will remember his previous work at Met from 1991-2010 when he served in many capacities including Resource Specialist, Program Manager, Revenue, Rates and Budget Manager and as the Assistant Group Manager in Water System Operations. He worked on some of the first IRPs, helped create our water rate structure, and was directly involved in many water operations activities and projects.
More recently, Shane was the General Manager of the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District for seven years. It was a small organization, but Shane helped direct some big accomplishments including building partnerships with those cities and their elected officials to ensure more sustainable water resources.
"Coming back to Metropolitan has always been in my mind," says Shane. As CAO, he will oversee management of Administrative Services, IT, Real Property, HR and Environmental Planning.
"There's never a dull day in the water world," according to Shane. "I'm looking forward to working with everyone at Met to meet the many challenges we face."
