Parsonage Vote:
On Sunday, following a succinct presentation of the decision-making process, introduction of the resolution from the Congregation Council and Resource Commission, and comments and questions from the congregation, Christ Lutheran Church voted to approve the recommendation to: a) deputize a small committee (Edie Lohr, Bruce Schnepper, Joyce Simon, Audrey Colson, and Pastor Bourret) to look for a home in Natick that would offer a significant improvement on the present parsonage within a budget of $825,000 and, if found,
negotiate its purchase; and b) sell the current parsonage at the best possible price within a reasonable time frame.

Should the committee not find such a house by mid-summer (thus offering a reasonable expectation of concluding both transactions in 2018), the church will instead undertake the necessary and desired improvements to the current parsonage.

Many of our members, especially the Resource Commission, have labored diligently throughout this process, and we thank them!
Our Lenten Mid-Week gatherings continue Wednesday at 6:30. At Evening Prayer we'll be focused on the "Great Flood" story from Genesis. Members of the book group will provide the simple supper at 6:30. We promise to have you on your way home by 8:15.

At the adult forum this week we begin a timely  new series, "Can We Talk About Guns?" using a conversation guide developed by The Christian Century. It consists of five brief (about two pages each) essays, with questions to spur discussion. This Sunday we'll look at the first two, "Guns and the Illusion of Security," and "The Road to Heller." Download the guide here:

CLC Book Group's next selection:  Homegoing  by Yaa Gyasi tells the story of two half-sisters born in eighteenth century Ghana. One marries a white magistrate; the other is sold into slavery. The novel follows the families through subsequent generations into the present, tracing the experiences of those whose lives are shaped by historical forces beyond their control. The group will meet  Monday, April 9, 7:30 pm.

READINGS FOR THIS WEEK
March 4 , 2018, Third Sunday in Lent

This Sunday's Lenten readings-the ten commandments, Paul's discussion of the foolishness of the cross, and the story of Jesus cleansing the temple-provide an occasion to think about the relationship between Judaism and Christianity. For Christians, Christ is always in the center of the conversation. Our baptism calls us to assemble in Christ, who is our temple.

First Reading        Psalm             Second Reading             Gospel
Exodus 20:1-17        Psalm 19          1 Corinthians 1:18-25         John 2:13-22
Sing For Joy
Enhance your understanding of the weekly scripture readings by listening to Sing For Joy http://www.stolaf.edu/singforjoy/ from St. Olaf College.  The Sing For Joy radio program, produced by St. Olaf College , has a simple mission: to explore the weekly themes of Christian worship by providing the best in sacred choral music and thoughtful commentary. The musical performances eloquently "do the talking," while the concise remarks from host Pastor Bruce Benson illuminate the meaning of the texts.
