Corrected Recycling Schedule
Women's March 2018
Property Tax Appeals
Dear Neighbors,

You may have received a postcard in the mail or heard about the date on which your recycling will be picked up Many of these notices are incorrect, so this sets the record straight:

If you have alley pickup, your recycling will be picked up every other week, as always.  The next recycling week is the week of January 15th.  The recycling can be picked up any day of the week.

If you have curbside pickup, your recycling will always  be picked up on the same day of the recycling week as garbage day, which is Wednesday in the vast majority of our Ward.

Property Tax Appeals Workshop

The Cook County Board of Review will be open for property valuation appeals for the North Township (areas south of Fullerton) through January 16, 2018.  You can file a complaint online. The Board will analyze comparable properties to determine if the property is assessed at too high a value.  Other evidence may be presented by the taxpayer as well.

Join us for a workshop presented by Commissioner Michael Cabonargi on Tuesday, January 9th at the Lincoln Park Library, 1150 W Fullerton, at 6:00 p.m.  Bring a copy of your 2nd installment property tax bill.
Shared Sidewalk Program Opens January 9

The City's Shared Cost Sidewalk Program, an extremely popular voluntary program, opens on-line on January 9.  We encourage you to sign up as soon as possible on the 9th, as the program quickly reaches capacity.  You can only sign up by phoning 311 or on-line here

Public Hearing on Reduction of Enterprise Zone 4

Enterprise Zone 4, which currently includes a few blocks of the 43rd Ward on Clybourn, is being reduced in size significantly.  Once the Enterprise Zone designation is removed, properties will no longer be eligible to have real estate transfer taxes waived.  As this is now a highly-developed and desirable area, the designation is no longer necessary.  There will be a public hearing on Wednesday, January 10th at UI Labs, 115 N. Cherry Ave. in the Knowledge Theater at 10:00 a.m.  Click here for the map of the Zone and the proposed changes.
