Leadership Event This Sunday!

Join us Sunday from 12:15-3 p.m. as we focus on strategic directions for our ministry together. We'll share in lunch and conversation around leadership development. All members involved in ministry teams, committees, boards, or any type of lay ministry are welcome.

Once again we are participating in St. Vincent De Paul's Share the Warmth Blanket Drive. We will be collecting good quality, new and used blankets at services this weekend, January 28. Thanks for your help!

Joys and Concerns

We extend love and sympathy to Dr. George Gay on the January 18 death of his husband, Brian Soper. You can read Brian's obituary here. 

We also send love and sympathy to Susan Schmidt-Thomson following the death of her husband, John Thomson, who passed away unexpectedly last week. A visitation and funeral will be held on Friday at First United Methodist Church, beginning at 2 p.m. You can read John's obituary here.

Fruit, Cheese, and Sausage Sale This Week
We'll begin taking orders this week, January 28, in the Octagon for pick up on March 3. The sale will run through February 11. Profits benefit  missional programs of FUMC. Double the benefits by buying fruit and donating to the food pantry. Thanks!  

Interfaith Day at Holy Wisdom Monastery 
Sponsored by Church Women United on February 2. Join us at  9 a.m. for gathering and coffee followed by an Interfaith Day Program at 10 a.m.

Garrett on the Road
Join us for a one-day workshop on Saturday, February 24, that will include interactive lectures, a panel of Madison educators, and small group discussions around the achievement gap in Madison. The event will be led by Rev. Dr. Reginald Blount, assistant professor of formation, youth, and culture, and Rev. Dr. Virginia A. Lee, associate professor of Christian education and director of deacon studies. We will also be welcoming Dr. Blount to Sunday services as our guest preacher for that weekend. Wesleyan Heritage in England: Travel and Learn Together
Rev. Mark will be the primary teacher on a pilgrimage to England this summer, July 13-20. Pick up an itinerary and registration form at the Information Desk or contact Rev. Tina for more information. Number of participants is limited so if you're interested, don't delay.
