Thank You to all those that helped with set up, cooking and cleaning up last week for Breakfast Sunday! It was fantastic!

A special thank you to Bert and Anne Clark (and all the other names of folks we know who were involved) for organizing our Breakfast Sunday experience this past weekend. Thank you, also, to our gracious Wednesday community meal hosts this week,
Adrienne Edwards and Delmar Klocke!

Oyster Dinner Tickets are for sale. $45.
All of the fun will be on Shrove Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Buy tickets and plan now to be with us for the best all-you-can-eat oyster buffet in Wichita.

The Theology of John Shelby Spong continues at 6:00 on Tuesdays . All are invited to join in this examination of the 12 theses of Bishop Spong. These are attempts to recast the scriptures, and commonly accepted theology in modern terms, challenging our traditional beliefs. Led by Fr. Joseph Bayles, Fr. Sam Criss, Dr. Paul Rillema.

Spirited Study:
Bible study looks at the Book of the Prophet Hosea at 10:00 am on Thursdays,  in the Lounge.

Buon Appetito! Here at St. James we have a healthy appetite for sharing God's love. Together, we create this "we love you, so we feed you" culture. Sign up with friends and family to help host a community meal on Wednesdays. Nourishing and generous, this practical kind of love says welcome like nothing else. The bulletin board between the Lounge and the Kitchen has all the dates for Spring 2018. You can also chat with Mother Sarah for more details. Say it simply, with love, altogether: Mangia, mangia!

2018 Wednesday Dinners and Youth Group start their weekly schedule on Wednesday, January 17.  Dinner starts at 5:15 p.m. in the Guild Hall. Please sign up to help with meals in the new year. High School Youth Group starts at 5:45 p.m. and Middle School Youth Group starts at 6:45 p.m.

Talent Show and Dessert Auction, Saturday, January 27 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the Guild Hall - sponsored by the Parish Life Committee. Come and be entertained by people you love and buy delicious things to eat, which will mean only a momentary pause from resolutions to watch your diet in 2018.

ESS' Night on the Red Carpet will be held Sunday, March 4.

Name tags are provided for all at St. James.
Pick yours up on the way in, fill in a blank one if you're visiting, and request a printed one if needed.

Snow Closure Policy -
When USD-259 announces that the school day is canceled, the policy at St. James is to close also. On such days, all weekday activities (other than worship) are canceled. Group leaders may not notify group members individually, so be aware of closures. The church office is also closed on days when USD-259 announces that school is closed for a full day due to inclement weather. Office volunteers should not plan to come. Worship services are not usually cancelled. Worship is canceled only in the very most rare circumstance. In deciding whether to come to church, use your best judgment and employ caution. Do not take risks when conditions are icy or potentially hazardous. Our parking lot is cleared after snow of 2" or more has accumulated. Ice is not removed from the parking lot, so use extreme caution if you must walk across it (entrances to the building will be clear).

If you have not already mailed in your pledge to the church or turned in your stewardship commitment on In Gathering Sunday, it is not too late!  Please let us know the amount of your financial commitment as soon as possible, as the Vestry is beginning to plan the budget for the 2017-18 church year, and we need to know the amount of the gifts that you are planning to give to St. James.

Please take this important step as a member of our beloved parish and give generously to help maintain and grow the church and church family that we all love.  Please look for the new Stewardship envelopes in the pews with the "Love and Be Loved" theme on the outside.  We hope you will use these envelopes on a regular basis to place your gifts into the offering plate each Sunday, or as often as you feel moved to give to St. James.

Thank you for your generosity; St. James is truly blessed by your gifts.

Written announcements may be left in the offering plate.

Word for the Week ~ Revelation
For those of us who bear the name Christian, we recognize that we have seen the face of God in the face of Jesus. This is not to say that no one else has seen God or known God, heard from God or called on God in another way or time or place or name. We may experience some new revelation from the God of Abraham from the "
other," from the " stranger."
