Dear Neighbors ,

Thank you to all of you who came out to the State of the District event this past Saturday. I am happy to report that the State of the District is strong! We are experiencing one of the longest economic expansions in the history of our country. We have worked to restore services in our city and our district and we're rebuilding our police department. We're moving forward with big plans.

Be A Part of the Budget Process

To kick off the City's annual budget process, residents are asked to define their budgetary priorities with the City's new budget application - Balancing Act. The website allows residents to view and test-edit different portions of the 2019 General Fund, all while trying to balance the budget.

Accepting Applications for 9-1-1 Dispatcher

The San Jose Fire Department is now accepting applications for the position of Public Safety Radio Dispatcher Trainee. This is the entry-level 9-1-1 Dispatcher position for the City of San Jose.

No prior dispatch experience or training is required to apply, provided that the minimum qualifications for the position are met.

Starting salary rate is $66,830.40 annually.

San Jose residents can schedule free appointments to have large items (mattresses, sofas, refrigerators, tires, and more) picked up by their recycling collection company.

This fun-filled event will include a resource fair, walk around the mall, warm-up exercises, a raffle, breakfast, and more!

VOLUNTEER - Great American Litter Pick Up
Saturday, April 21st, 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Willow Glen Community Center, 2175 Lincoln Ave.

Join Councilmember Dev Davis at the Great American Litter Pick Up this Earth Day! Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and refreshments will be served. Litter sticks, gloves, bags, and visibility bests will be provided for volunteers.

Power Soccer Therapeutic Winter Tournaments 2018

The Dept. of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services' Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS) will host various therapeutic sporting tournaments at Bascom Community Center on March 10th and 11th. TRS offers recreational opportunities, education and community services to persons with cognitive and physical disabilities.

Sonic Runway Closing Ceremony and Fashion Show

Join us for the closing ceremony of the Sonic Runway with a fashion show, a trunk show and market place featuring the fashion of Bay Area designers in the Rotunda and music of DJ Nikita! The event is free and open to the public.

2nd Annual Service Day - Beautify Your Branch
Saturday, March 10th
All 24 San Jose Public Library Branches

You're invited to participate in San Jose Public Library's 2nd Annual Service Day. By volunteering on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at any of the 24 locations, people will have the opportunity to reduce, or even eliminate, their library fines at a rate of $20 per hour, while helping to beautify their branch library. Participants are invited to help clean books, dust shelves, and organize library materials.

The City of San Jose's Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) is launching a new neighborhood event, Neighbor Nights, at local San Jose community centers. The event will take place every second Friday of the month.

#SJNeighborNights will offer free activities, including music, movies, crafts, dances, sports, and more. Everyone is welcome to enjoy a night of neighborly fun!

Going Native Garden Tour 2018
Saturday, April 7th - Sunday, April 8th
Various Garden Locations 

Visit any of over 50 beautiful home gardens featuring: California native plants, water-wise landscape and low maintenance habitat-rich environments.Garden information, maps and directions will be available the week of March 19th. Registration will be accepted until noon on April 8th.

Urban Village Farmers' Market is now located in the Willow Glen Community Center parking lot. Neighbors can stroll the market to get delicious coffee and a bite to eat while meeting new and old friends alike!
