Donations for Easter Lilies
There will be a donation form in your bulletin this Sunday to donate, in memory of or in honor of someone, to the Easter Lily Fund to purchase Easter Lilies for the Chancel. Please fill this form our THIS SUNDAY and put in the offering plate with your donation. If you have any questions, contact John Churchwell in the Parish Office. All donations collected over the amount needed to purchase the lilies will go to the Discretionary Fund.

Easter Lunch
Everyone is invited to a church-wide Easter Potluck Lunch following the
11am service. If you can, please bring a side dish to share. The church will provide a meat and bread.
You may also RSVP by signing up in the church lobby this Sunday or calling or emailing the church.
We will also need assistance!

Easter Lily Sign up

Do you like to play with fire? Do comfy loose fitting robes look appealing? Would you like to be an integral part of serving Eucharist?
Then ACOLYTING is for you!
St. Peter's is in need of some additional acolytes, and if you are between the ages of 8 and 80, we would joyfully welcome your help!
Acolytes typically serve once a month at the service of their choice. Training is free, and encouragement is bountiful!

Walking the Mourner's Path registration is open
Walking the Mourner's Path is an 8-week grief group for anyone who has suffered a loss due to the death of a loved one and would like to process it in a group setting. This is a Christ-centered bereavement support program started in the Episcopal Church.
Sessions will begin April 8 through May 20. Group meetings are set for Sunday afternoons at 2:00 pm. Facilitators for the group will be Dr. Linda Brown, Tanya Buchanan, and Sam Buchanan. The cost is $80 for materials, payable to St. Peter's Episcopal Church; however, scholarships are available. Space is limited.

Presented by founder Mary Parmer, and recommended by The Episcopal Church, the program is designed to accommodate congregations of all sizes and crosses all social, economic boundaries. Participants will learn to use assessment tools, surveys, checklists, and other ministry materials adaptable for the interests and needs of their parish.

Two thousand years ago, an itinerant Jewish preacher walked across the Galilee, gathering followers to establish what he called the "Kingdom of God." The revolutionary movement he launched was so threatening to the established order that he was executed as a state criminal. Within decades after his death, his followers would call him God.
For the next three Sundays we will continue to prepare for Holy Week, Palm Sunday and Easter by delving into Reza Aslan's 2013 book Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth. Having read Zealot in 2013 when it was released, Kevin Mequet will facilitate our discussion of who this historical Jesus was and how did Christianity form from Reza's perspective. Obviously, this discussion is not definitive, but rather speculative and illuminative yet grounded in historical evidence that allows us to think deeply about our faith. Please join the conversation in preparation during the season of Lent for the coming of Holy Week.

Pantry Musings
The author of the Gospel of John tells us that Mary anoints Jesus with nard, a perfumed ointment that was used in burials. Apparently, Mary knew what was to happen to Jesus and honored him in life by giving him this blessing. Her blessing acknowledges Jesus' special place in the lives of the disciples and by extension in the lives of all of Jesus' followers including us. When he entered Jerusalem on Palm
Sunday riding a donkey he had been blessed as the 'King of Israel' and his entry was cheered by multitudes singing loud hosannas. Across the city, at the opposite gate the Roman army ,in full dress, entered on their steeds. Every year they entered the city in a display of power at the time of Passover in order to quell any disruptions before they began in the Romans' fear of the large crowds and the open unhappy feelings of the Israelis about Roman rule. What was taking place was a display of worldly power by one of the most powerful empires the world has ever known; and a humble and symbolic statement concerning the arrival of the kingdom of God that Jesus promised. He was riding on a donkey to the shouts of loud hosannas and waving of palm branches. To be sure, there was a great confusion about the polity of the kingdom. Would it be able to overthrow the Romans? What would it look like? The clue to its structure is in the fact that a donkey carried Jesus, not a steed. The kingdom of God was not to be a political structure, but rather a matter of service, love, justice, and compassion for the people that God loves and that we should love as our neighbors. - Ann Drake
