Happenings This Week
Embracing Forgiveness
Soup supper and program
grilled_cheese_soup.jpg
Roasted tomato soup and grilled cheese!
Join us tomorrow, March 7, for
soup supper in Hinde Hall at 6:30 p.m. followed by our program series Embracing Forgiveness at 7:00 p.m. Our speaker this week is Mr. Shannon Woodard. He describes himself as the "poster child" of the Down No More Christian mentoring program, facilitated by Deacon Tom Morelli. He is married with a career as an estimator for a San Diego-based contractor. Realizing the gift of receiving a second chance he chooses to serve as a mentor for newly released men as they transition to a life focused on positive living with the Down No More mentoring program.

Come early to walk the labyrinth, starting at 4:00 p.m., and the Stations of the Cross in the church at 5:45 p.m.

Lent
Shower St. Mark's with Love
2018 Lenten Outreach Project
Okay...we reached our initial goal of $4,000, so we'll see Rev. Anne dunked on Palm Sunday. Well done Christ Church! BUT...we've upped the challenge and opened it up to the community. If we raise an additional $4,000, the 51st Mayor of Coronado, Richard Bailey, has agreed to be dunked. We hope Coronadoans will support the effort - who doesn't want to see the Mayor get dunked? Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, share it on social media. Contributions can be made on the Christ Church website or dropped by the parish office.

If $4,000 can fund Showers of Blessings at St. Mark's for an entire year, imagine what $8,000 can do; an additional year, more days a month? Help make something as simple as a shower a possibility for our neighbors on the street.

Stations of the Cross
Wednesdays, beginning February 21
Meet in the church Wednesday evenings in Lent, at 5:45 p.m., to walk the Stations of the Cross with the Daughters of the King. The "stations" are a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion. The faithful travel from image to image, in order, stopping at each "station" to recite selected prayers and reflections.

Labyrinth Walk
Wednesday evenings 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Come walk the labyrinth in our courtyard, Wednesday evenings in Lent, and every evening in Holy Week (weather permitting).

Labyrinth walking is an ancient practice used by many different faiths for spiritual centering, contemplation and prayer. The proportions of the labyrinth are designed to bring rest, order, comfort, and harmony to the mind. In moving through the labyrinth, the worrying "monkey-mind" becomes occupied with the action of following the path, leaving the intuitive, deeper levels of awareness explored and engaged.

We're Reading The Good Book
Join the book club during Lent
The Good Book Club is an invitation to all Episcopalians to join in reading the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts everyday during Lent-Easter 2018.   The Good Book Club website lists the daily readings, as well as available resources to support you as you read the scriptures.

Monday morning Bible study will be covering the week's readings during Lent and Easter; join the group 8:00-9:00 a.m. in Hinde Hall to read and discuss the lessons.

Youth and Day School News
Teen Tuesdays
Terrific times together
The second Tuesday of each month both middle and high school youth meet in the Youth and Family Ministry Center at the back left of the parking lot. These evenings are spiritually based using Echo the Story curriculum which is thought provoking and relevant. It encourages youth to engage scripture through storytelling, creative writing, art, and sharing.

The middle school group meets from 4-5 p.m. to enjoy snacks, Echo the Story, and fellowship at the end. The high school group meets at 7:30 p.m. to have dinner (meal decided by youth), Echo the Story, and fellowship.

The next Teen Tuesday is March 13 - we hope you'll join us.

Missions on Display
Hinde Hall
Fourth grade students in California study the history of the state. Part of CCDS curriculum is research into the various missions and construction of a mission model. The fourth grade students will have their missions and research on display in Hinde Hall Sunday, March 18. We hope you'll stop in a take a look.

Family Movie Night
All are welcome
Christ Church Day School is hosting its second family movie night on Friday, March 16. Bring your beach chairs, blankets, and jackets to watch Dreamwork's The Road to El Dorado. This fun, FREE, family-friendly flick will be shown on the big inflatable screen in the courtyard at 7:00 p.m. There will be popcorn....just sayin'.

The Great Watch
High School Youth
High school youth are invited to attend the March 29 Maundy Thursday service at 7:00 p.m., and stay to help keep watch until 11:00 p.m. In Matthew 26, Jesus goes to the garden of Gethsemane to pray. While he is praying he asks his disciples to keep watch with him. When he comes back to them, they have all fallen asleep. On this night, we will keep the watch. There will be an opportunity to sign up for a time slot to watch at the altar. During the time you are not keeping the watch, there will be a variety of activities in Hinde Hall (bread baking, Anglican prayer beads, and more...)

Please RSVP to Charlette Preslar if you are able to help keep watch that evening. Friends are invited for what is sure to a wonderful event.

Connect with Realm
Create your unique log-in now
We've moved to a new kind of church record keeping solution called RealmĀ®. It primarily serves the administrative needs of the staff, but it also offers some exciting opportunities to support the way parishioners are involved at Christ Church.

Realm will make it easier for our parish family to connect with each other, keep up with what's going on, and grow as a connected faith community.

Everyone in the parish has a unique profile. Your profile contains everything you want people in our church to know about you. Your profile also enables you to join a small group, RSVP to events, track your giving, update your contact information, change family details, set notification preferences, or replace that outdated family photo.

You can register here and download the Connect app to your phone so you'll have all of your parish information at your fingertips 24/7.
