"Just Wondering Jesus . . .
How Do I Serve You?"

Dear Members & Friends of Our Savior's Lutheran Church,

Our Lenten series, "Just Wondering, Jesus ... Questions from the Roadside" continues this week as we ask and consider the question, "Just Wondering, Jesus ... how do I serve you?" This question is not as simple as it may seem. The answer seems obvious to us, for we serve faithfully all the time at Our Savior's.

I think the question is inviting us to go deeper than the surface response or answer. The answer our book gives to the question is, "by entering the wilderness" similar to what John the Baptist and Jesus did. Our book further describes an imaginary wall that separates us from the wilderness and how there might be many important opportunities for service on the other side of the wall, if we are willing to go there.

This Wednesday we will explore further what it means to explore the wilderness and discover opportunities for service within it. Confirmation mentors, I pray and hope your conversations so far this Lenten season have been fruitful and full.

On Sunday we will consider the "gospel in a nutshell", John 3:16. It is a powerful verse among a powerful story of transformation, that has the power to transform still today. I look forward to exploring with you what led Nicodemus to ask his own heartfelt question from the roadside, "Just wondering, Jesus ... what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

Lenten blessings,

Pastor Dale
