THE PATH TO THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
The wrestling team continues to make history during the 2017-2018 season. The wrestling team competed in the PAC championships on Saturday, February 17th at Boyertown . Matthew Vulakh '21, Ryan Vulakh '19, and Jack Files '19 qualified for the Finals in their respective weight classes, This was the 1st time in PJP history that any Panther made it to the finals during the PAC Championship. To make the day even better Matthew and Ryan (pictured below) both beat their opponents in the finals to become the 1st PJP wrestlers to ever win a PAC Championship. Jack Files '19 finished 2nd and Nick Boyce '18 finished 6th. All four wrestlers moved on to compete in the District 1 tournament.....
The District 1 Wrestling Championships were held at Spring Ford High School on Saturday February 24th. As a team PJP finished 5th out of 21 teams with 56.5 points. The Vulakh brothers Matthew '21 and Ryan '19 continued their history making seasons by becoming the 1st PJP wrestlers to win District 1 AAA titles. Matthew was the 106 pound Champion, while Ryan was the 145 pound Champion. Jack Files '19 finished the day 2nd in the 195 pound weight class. All three wrestlers qualified to move on to Southeast Regional Tournament......
The Southeast Regional Tournament was held at Oxford High School on March 3rd. Again history was made. Ryan Vulakh '19 became PJP's first Southeast Regional AAA Champion. He defeated Methacton's Roman Moser for the third time in the post-season in an impressive tech-fall with just nine seconds left in the second period. Ryan has defeated his Methacton opponent in the PAC Final, and District Final all by tech-falls.

Matt Vulakh '21 also continued his run through the post season. Matt finished 2nd in his weight class at the Southeast Regional Tournament. His second place finish was good enough to earn him a trip to the PIAA AAA State Tournament.

Both Ryan and Matt will continue on to Hershey this weekend to compete for State Titles. We wish Ryan and Matt the best of luck this weekend! To follow the tournament live or see updated brackets throughout the weekend Click Here!
