The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Announces Youth Judging Contest in cooperation with Hagerty

Launched in 2007, Hagerty's Youth Judging Program provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for children to learn about a variety of classic cars thorough participation in a simple and fun judging process. Hagerty Youth Judging is an integral part of more than 125 classic car and boat events throughout the U.S., Canada and the U.K. annually.

Since 2010, The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance has partnered with Hagerty to bring the Youth Judging Program to Florida's First Coast. Early Concours Sunday morning, the Young Judges are guided through the show field as a group where they encounter pre-selected show cars and interact with owners, allowing the judges to learn details, history and fun facts about each. Judging takes place using a simplified score card that highlights five basic categories which are rated on a scale of 1-to-5. The winners are celebrated during The Amelia's award ceremony where the youth judges help present the owners with trophies.

Being a Young Judge comes with benefits. Young Judges receive free parking for one vehicle and early-entry admission to Sunday's show for the child and a parent (a $230 value), an event t-shirt and refreshments.

For 2018, The Amelia and Hagerty are holding a contest to select fifteen young people between the age of 7 and 14 to serve as youth judges for the 23rd Annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. Entering the contest is straight-forward, but requires a little creativity. Students must submit one of three automotive-related entries along with a completed contest form by February 2, 2018 (no late entries will be accepted). A group of automotive experts will review all submissions and choose 15 applicants as judges for the show. Winners will be notified by email on February 6, 2018.

Submission options:
  1. Write a 300 word essay describing your favorite vehicle
  2. Submit a digital photo that you have taken of an automobile
  3. Draw a picture of your dream car and send it, either electronically or through the mail, to The Amelia's offices.
Electronic submissions should be sent to [email protected]

Creativity is the key!
All submissions become property of The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Foundation to use at its discretion and without royalty. However, The Amelia will limit the use or reproduction of submissions to the context of the contest and will respect the anonymity of minors.
