This Sunday is Palm Sunday, the first day of Holy Week. In Sunday School the children will hear the most important story of the Christian faith, a story that moves from the glad
Hosannas
of Palm Sunday to the Passover meal in the upper room, from the prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane to death on the cross at Calvary; from the mystery of the empty tomb to the
Alleluias
of Easter morning
.

For Palm Sunday, our organ prelude is J.S. Bach’s
Prelude in D Major
. The opening is a series of festive fanfares; perhaps these are the ruffles and flourishes as Jesus approaches the city.

MARCH IS CHRISTIAN ACTION MONTH
|
|
Christian Action Giving in 2017
|
The Board of Christian Action is responsible for deciding what organizations and projects should receive financial contributions by our church. (There are separate line items in the church budget for the church's support for Silver Lake and UCC Bridgeport.) The funds are provided by the generosity of the congregation through the Every Member Canvass, the careful stewardship of the investment accounts conducted by the Trustees, and the proceeds of the Fall Festival.

Continued Support for the Rydingswords
|
Friends,
I recieved an email last week from Jenna Lamond at the Steiner School in Great Barrington requesting our participation in their 'Meal Train' program, providing meals for the Rydingsword family. As you know, SCC provided meals for December and the school took over providing meals the first of the year. Sarah Rydingsword has expressed her gratitude for this service and has stated that it would be helpful to continue for a while more. The school would like to work with us to provide meal support until the end of the school year.
Here is the link if you would like to participate:

.
Thank you for all that you do to care for one another.
Blessings,
Pastor Diane
