1st Grade Arts Integration, Performance and celebration of African-American Leaders

After reading the picture book, "Our Children Can Soar" by Michelle Cook, students read about, researched and interviewed African Americans who have influenced and made a difference in American culture. Working with music, drama and dance, we put their work into a production. Mrs. Perkins, Mrs. Sullivan, Mrs. Young choreographed and rehearsed in their classrooms while the kids rehearsed and created with their specials teachers in Dance, Drama and Visual Arts classes.
