MAYOR'S MESSAGE

I recently had the pleasure of attending two Sea Isle City Taxpayer Association (SICTA) meetings, during which we discussed a number of ideas to continually move Sea Isle City in the right direction. One way the members of SICTA and I hope to see us grow as a community is to improve bicycle safety awareness. With that in mind, I am working with representatives from the Sea Isle City Police Department to educate the public about the importance of bicycle safety. We plan to achieve this goal by distributing a large number of safety brochures at local real estate offices, bike rental shops and at the Welcome Center. We will also be sharing information about bicycle safety in other ways as we implement this important initiative - so get ready for an enjoyable and safe year on your bike! >>READ MORE<<

CITY COUNCIL'S MESSAGE

City Council held a brief meeting at 9:00 a.m. on January 2 to pass the City's 2018 Temporary Budget. Then, City Council's first Regular Meeting of 2018 took place on January 9 at 10:00 a.m., at which time Council commended the City's Office of Emergency Management, Department of Public Works, Sea Isle City Police Department and Ambulance Corps, who worked very hard to get us through the recent blizzard. Sea Isle City rarely receives such impact from winter storms, and Council is very grateful for the efforts of our City employees during that extreme weather event.   >>READ MORE<<

SPOTLIGHT ON HISTORY

Here's a Quick Look at
Sea Isle's Past

Because Sea Isle City has such a wonderful and interesting history, the Sea Isle City Historical Society will occasionally provide this E-Newsletter with brief "Walks Down Memory Lane," which will give readers a quick look at Sea Isle's past - including vintage photos.

Do You Have Old Photos?

The Historical Society is always in search of vintage photographs of Sea Isle City, and they are currently in need of photos that depict our town's Carousel and Boardwalk prior to the Storm of 1962. If you have photos you wish to donate, please phone 609-263-2992 or stop-by the Historical Museum, located on the first floor of the Sea Isle City Library at 4800 Central Avenue.  If your photos are family heirlooms that you wish to keep, you can share them with the Historical Museum by scanning and emailing them to sicmuseum@outlook.com.

The American Red Cross will have a Blood Drive on Thursday, January 25, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Sea Isle United Methodist Church on JFK Boulevard. All Blood Donors will receive a voucher for a free cup of coffee and donut from Dunkin' Donuts. Walk-ins are welcomed, however to reserve a time-slot you can phone 263-8025. Remember, your blood donation can save a life!

According to the American Red Cross, severe winter weather has had a tremendous impact on blood donations already this year, with more than 200 blood drives forced to cancel. As a result, over 6,500 blood and platelet donations have gone uncollected. Please give blood if you can!

CITIZEN CALL CHECK PROGRAM

Safe At Home

Sea Isle City residents can easily sign-up for a wonderful free service called the "Citizen Call Check" Program (also known as "CCC"), which helps ensure that seniors, the physically disabled and those who live alone are safe in their homes each day of the year. Once registered, residents simply phone the Sea Isle City Police Department each morning to say "I am OK." If the Police don't hear from you by 11:00 a.m. each day, they will phone you. And, if you don't answer your phone when they call, they will send an officer to knock on your door - just to make sure you're doing well. To learn how to register for the SICPD's Citizen Call Check Program, please phone the SICPD Records Department Monday thru Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at (609) 263-4311 ext. 2223 or ext. 2246.

CITY-WIDE FLOOD MITIGATION PLAN

Drainage Study Underway

A major priority of the Sea Isle City government is addressing the flooding which impacts our City and is most prevalent in low lying areas. Over the past several years, the City has implemented several drainage improvement projects to replace deteriorated storm drainage systems and tidal check valves; and we're coordinating with the county engineer's office on several projects, as much of our drainage system falls under county jurisdiction.  >>READ MORE<<
