The Rev. Dr. Kortright Davis

    The Rev. Canon Kortright Davis is the Professor of Theology at the Howard University School of Divinity, and the Rector Emeritus of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Washington. He has served in several capacities throughout the Anglican Communion, and was a member of the Anglican/Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCICII) appointed by the Pope and the Archbishop of Canterbury. He and his family joined Christ Church, Kensington in 1983, and have retained official membership ever since then. He holds degrees from the Universities of London and Sussex in the United Kingdom, and from the University of the West Indies. He has been awarded four honorary doctorates, including those from The General Theological Seminary (NY), and The Virginia Theological Seminary (VA). He and his wife Joan are the parents of three children and five grandchildren.

The Rev. Emily Guthrie is away this coming Sunday, but will return this week.

"Sock Sunday" is tomorrow!  On Sunday, all are invited to bring a new pair of men's or women's athletic socks to the service for our homeless neighbors.  We will present them to the Interim Director of Bethesda Cares who will be speaking at the Adult Forum. 

It's Super Bowl Chili Time! Support the youth mission trip by ordering chili for Super Bowl Sunday, February 4, 2017! You'll find the order forms at the back of the church - please fill one out, put it in an envelope with cash or a check made out to CCPK, and place the envelope in the marked basket next to the forms. Orders are due by January 28th - don't miss out, $30 for 2lbs of chili and cornbread!

Upbeat - A Joyful Night of Jazz and the Spoken Word

Join us for UpBeat, a joyful and musical gathering on January 26 from 7 - 9 p.m. at Washington National Cathedral. Featuring Howard University's premier vocal group Afro Blue and Atlanta-based social activist the Rev. Kim Jackson, the evening will also include representatives from our parishes, campus ministries, and faith communities from around the area sharing uplifting faith stories alongside food and fellowship. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. A light dinner is included.

Altar Flower & Sanctuary Candle Dedications
Dedicating the Altar Flowers or Sanctuary Candle is a way to remember loved ones who have gone before us, or celebrate a blessing in our lives. If you would like to dedicate the altar flowers or sanctuary candle for a particular Sunday, please sign up on the sheet on the office door and give a donations of $50 for the Altar Flowers or $20 for the sanctuary candle. The office will contact you during the week for the details of your dedication.  
 
The CPR/AED First Aid Recertification course has been rescheduled to Saturday, February 17, from 12:00 noon - 4:00 p.m.  Please let the Parish Office know if you plan to take this course.  The registration fee is still $40.
