Air, Water & Food. Ignored by most MDs

Think about just how important those 3 necessities are for our survival. Indeed, we would perish...
  • In less than 10 minutes without air
  • In less than 10 days without water and
  • In less than 10 weeks without food
Yet, despite the urgings of wise health luminaries like Hippocrates and many others, modern medicine completely ignores all three of the most basic of human needs.

Our most urgent need--AIR. Just this week, I had an opportunity to learn much more about it's importance. I even spoke for an hour with an osteopath (Michael Lingard) in the UK who has seen a strong correlation between healthy eating (using our 4Leaf score) and the better CP scores associated with the Buteyko Method. See chart below.

Correlation Between CP and 4Leaf Score

The "CP" stands for the "Control Pause" in seconds, which is explained by Michael Lingard in his new article entitled:  What's the connection between your breathing and your diet? For more info on CP, see video provided below.

In this chart, the 4Leaf Score (ranging from -30 to +40 on the "x" axis and the CP in seconds on the "y" axis. For me, it is very exciting to see the strong correlation between the quality of our diet AND the quality of our breathing. It's also exciting that he used our 4Leaf Survey to assess the health quality of each person's diet.

The first chart shows the raw data, followed by the "better fit" chart and data points below:
Want to learn more about CP and the Buteyko method? Take 16 minutes to watch this TedTalk video (Shut Your Mouth and Change Your Life)  by Patrick McKeown from Ireland. Patrick has authored several best-selling books on the topic and, while not a physician, he has sort of become the "face" of the Buteyko Method.

What about the water? For that topic, I am going to refer you to a book that was recommended to me last week by a good friend--during her 10-day water fast at the True North Health Center in Santa Rosa, CA. The book is entitled:

The Bottom Line. Thanks to experts like Campbell, Esselstyn, Ornish and many others, we hear a great deal about the importance of food for our health, but most of us don't hear much at all about those other two essentials in our lives.

So let's breathe, drink, eat and be healthy!

Looking for Opportunities to Speak in 2018. Since 2016, my research, writing and speaking has been focused on the sustainability of our ecosystem, our civilization and our future as a species. With an emphasis on food choices, I call it the "most important topic in the history of humanity."

After all, what could possibly be more important to humans than the survival of our species?

Upcoming Talks: In April at the vsh.org in Honolulu and Maui. In May at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.
