Stem Cells Talk THIS Friday at 7pm
Talking about Stem Cells
with Professor James Godde
January 19, 2018 at 7:00 PM

Stem Cell research is not new, it has been around since the 1960's, but it has long been fraught with ethical concerns.  Most concerns arise from the historic use of embryonic tissue to isolate totipotent stem cells, but a number of developments in amniotic and adult stem cells have helped to alleviate many of these concerns.

I will bring you up to date on the latest advances in stem cell research and discuss the important issues that remain concerning the use of these cells in medical treatment.

Bring your questions, and your friends! This event is open to the public, and hosted by OASIS.

James Godde received his B.S. in Microbiology from Western Illinois University and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the U of I, Urbana Champaign. He then performed postdoctoral research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. He is currently the McGrath Professor of Biology at Monmouth College, where he has worked for the past 16 years.

You're invited to hear the joys of ELC's ministry, elect new leaders, and consider a budget and vision for 2018. Ministry reports are available in our worship areas for your review. Feel free to take one home in preparation for the meeting, read it, and return to the meeting with any questions you may have.

A potluck will follow the meeting. Please bring a side, salad, or dessert to share.
Thank you for joining us in our celebration of God's goodness in 2017 and of the new things to come!
