+ Noisy Offering
jar_coin.jpg
This Sunday's Noisy Offering will support the Pastor's Discretionary Fund. This fund allows our pastors to assist neighbors both inside and outside the congregation, and to do so quickly.  Over the years, we have been able to help a number of our brothers and sisters cover gaps in times of crisis, so that they can get back on their feet while having the food, heat, transportation, and other things we all need to be healthy and safe.  Thank you for your generous support of one another, making sure we are all cared for in difficult times.

This spring we will elect eight council members.  The first step is for all of us to prayerfully discern a list of possible nominees.   Click here to see how you can help us with this process.

This Sunday we will welcome new folks into our Nativity family.  "A Rite of Welcome" is very different from a "New Member Sunday".  Rather than concluding a time of education and orientation like New Member Sundays of the past, Welcome Sunday begins a journey of inquiry, exploration and preparation.  "Official" membership, which happens through Baptism, Affirmation of Baptism, Restoration to Membership or Reception by Letter of Transfer, will happen later in Lent and Easter.

This change is in keeping with our return to the church's ancient practice of deepening discipleship through the Adult Catechumenate which we have titled The Way.  The process of preparation is a journey which can be undertaken in a season or throughout several years.  Its four stages are:  Inquiry, Exploration, Preparation and Mystagogy (Baptismal Living).  Some that we welcome this Sunday will be preparing for either Baptism or Affirmation of Baptism at the Easter Vigil.  Others will be received by Letter of Transfer during Lent.  Each of us has a spiritual path that is unique to us, yet we all experience the activity of God's grace in our lives. We invite you to take a moment to greet those who are participating in this journey today, extending to them the warmth of Christian fellowship, and making them feel truly welcome as a part of the Nativity family.
