Four programs successfully integrate Housing, Local Food, Small Business, and Special Projects with community collaborations to implement revitalization and renewal in the Village of Philmont and surrounding areas.
The Learning from Philmont workshops continue the community conversation aimed at creating a community-driven housing plan in the village.

The workshops increase community skills, knowledge, and capacity to develop innovative affordable housing strategies that incorporate affordable home ownership for working families, public spaces, parks, increased services, and economic development in Philmont.

Susan Witt's conversation will highlight how Community Land Trusts can help preserve the affordability of housing, and stimulate the growth of local economies.

Having assisted 22 buildings revitalize on the Main Street including 10 affordable housing building renovations, the organization is now looking to assembling a village-wide scattered housing plan aimed at equitable access for home ownership assisting program-eligible working families and individuals to go from renting to owning. Please join the conversation by attending upcoming workshops, or consider joining Community Conversations helping to write the housing plan by evalu ating village housing to see if it is currently serving the needs of residents, local farmers, young professionals, and trades professionals representing the growth sectors of the community .
2018 is shaping up to be another interesting and productive year for continuing revitalization in the village.

Here's a snap shot of projects we'll be working on with community participants:

  •  Housing assessment mapping - village-wide starting in January. Volunteer to help create a map of rental housing to assess sub-standard conditions. Rental housing represents over 51% of residential housing in the village.

  • The PBI Inspirational Team - a 3-5 year community strategic plan for the organization to increase capacity to meet community-selected revitalization projects and initiatives. Please contact us to join this team - info@pbinc.org

  • Creating a housing plan aimed at finding sustainable and equitable solutions for affordable housing in the village and supporting local economies.

  • Planning aimed at implementing the restoration of Summit Lake and the watershed.
