On Saturday March 17th, a group of enthusiastic teachers, students, principals, PTA members and community volunteers joined forces to share IUSD news. The volunteers covered 10 different routes with a minimum of 20 homes on each route. In as little as two hours, the volunteers gave out over 80 gift bags and left district program information at the homes of hundreds of Inglewood neighbors.
This outreach event was a success. We personally met with hundreds of families and collected feedback on the current image of IUSD. Many of our Inglewood neighbors were surprised by the new district programs and were happy to see the principal of their very own school at the front door. We even had a few families offer to donate funds to the district to further our transformation efforts.
It will take hard-work, determination, sacrifice, patience and strategic planning to transform IUSD. Today's event was one of many outreach events planned to connect to new families and reconnect with existing families. Enrollment is key. In order to transform the district, we must keep our current students and attract new students.
Did you miss the march? Make sure you are on the e-Mail list for a special invitation to the next one. The next lucky group of IUSD schools chosen as the focus for the next march will be announced soon.
