Four Colorado Teachers Named to U.S. Kids Golf 2017 Top 50 Kids Teachers Of The Year

U.S. Kids Golf announced the recipients of the Top 50 Kids Teachers Award. Three Colorado teachers were recognized with this honor:
  • Alexandra Braga, Denver Country Club, Denver
  • Alexander Fisher, The Glacier Club, Durango
  • Scott Wells, CommonGround Golf Club, Aurora
Bryan Heim, Columbine Country Club, was named a 2017 Master Kids Teacher, a designation reserved for teachers who have previously received the Top 50 Teachers recognition three times. 

A Lot Happening at the PGA Show - Including a Colorado Section Happy Hour

The Colorado PGA will once again be hosting a casual Happy Hour during the PGA Merchandise Show. The event will be hosted at the bar at the Rosen Centre Hotel from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. To get to the Rosen Centre Hotel, walk across the Sky Bridge on the far east side of the Orange County Convention Center and head to the lobby. There will be a corner of the bar reserved for our group.

G-4 Summit Offers Impressive List of Speakers
Lineup Finalized for February 28 Event at The Broadmoor

An impressive list of speakers has been assembled to present at the G-4 Summit being held at the Broadmoor on February 28. Speakers include:

Plummer, Ruddy to Headline March 7 Teaching and Coaching Summit

The lineup for the Teaching and Coaching Summit has been finalized and will be held March 7, 2018, at Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Club. The featured guests will be Andy Plummer and Matt Rudy. The full-day summit is sure to please and attendees will receive eight (8) MSRs.

Instruction Volunteers Needed for the Denver Golf Expo

The Denver Golf Expo is 25 years old. Be a part of this season-opening event by donating your time and expertise by providing 10-minute golf lessons to attendees. The Expo takes place on February 9-11 at The Denver Mart. Volunteers are asked to fill one or more of the 2-hour instruction slots. Earn an MSR for each hour of volunteering.

Visit Our Vets at Denver VA Hospital on February 14
 
The Colorado PGA is once again hosting our annual VA Hospital visit as part of National Salute to Hospitalized Vets Week. The visit is planned for Wednesday, February 14, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We will meet at the Denver VA Hospital at 1 p.m. The Colorado PGA will provide hats and pins to hand out along with your good wishes to our heros!

2018 Colorado PGA Award Nominations Now Open

The 2018 Colorado PGA Special Awards Nomination form is now available. Take a moment to nominate a deserving Colorado PGA Member by clicking the link below. The deadline to submit nominations is February 16, 2018.
February 16 Deadline to Apply for Growth of the Game Grants

It is the mission of Colorado's PGA REACH Growth of the Game Grant Program to develop or significantly enhance programs that will attract and retain new golfers. Applications must be submitted to Colorado PGA REACH by February 16.

March 1 Deadline to Apply for PGA and Colorado PGA Scholarships

The PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship application is available on PGA.org. The program provides college scholarships for children and grandchildren of PGA Members.

Applicants who apply but do not receive a PGA scholarship are automatically eligible for the Colorado PGA scholarships and do not need to submit any further paperwork. March 1, 2018, is the deadline to submit the application for both scholarship opportunities.

Kestner-Quinlivan Win PGA Senior-Junior Team Championship
Zaremba-Rudosky Finish t20

Playing together for the first time, Darrell Kestner and Sean Quinlivan won the PGA Senior-Junior Team Championship with a 4-under 68 Wednesday, edging Gary Robison and Dennis Miller by a shot.

Colorado PGA members Mike Zaremba and Micah Rudosky teamed up and posted a 10-under-par 278, which left them tied for twentieth.

Nearly 120 PGA Junior Golf Camps Nationwide - 4 in Colorado

The PGA of America's signature PGA Junior Golf Camps for boys and girls ages 6-17 is expanding this year to nearly 120 locations across the country - with registration now open. Four courses in Colorado offer the camps -- Family Sports Golf Course, Centennial; Park Hill Golf Club, Denver; Deer Creek Golf Club, Littleton; and Black Bear Golf Club, Parker.

2019 Drive, Chip and Putt Schedule Announced - Registration to Open January 25

The USGA, Masters Tournament and the PGA of America officially launched the sixth year of Drive, Chip and Putt by announcing the local and sub-regional schedule for the 2018-2019 qualifying season. Online registration will be available starting Thursday, January 25.

Fort Collins resident and former Air Force Academy golfer Tom Whitney lands spot in CareerBuilder Challenge on PGA Tour

Tom Whitney's background in the military, golf ability and being a former resident of La Quinta, Calif., made him a logical choice for a sponsor exemption into the CareerBuilder Challenge. And so the Fort Collins resident will find himself competing with the big boys on the PGA Tour this week.

KPMG Future Leaders Program Accepting Applications

PGA Golf Management University Scholarship Program

The PGA of America announced that it will award five new PGA Golf Management University Program scholarships of $8,000 each for the 2018-19 academic school year through PGA WORKS. The awards are for individuals pursuing PGA Membership through the 18 accredited PGA Golf Management University Programs nationwide, of which the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is one. Application deadline is February 28.

Rubenstein Named Recipient of 2018 PGA Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism

Lorne Rubenstein, who spent 33 years as a golf columnist while writing 14 books and contributing to magazines around the world, has been named the recipient of the 2018 PGA Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism.
