Our monthly internet search for the best free teaching resources for biology teachers has a winner for January 2018: "Frontiers for Young Minds." A collection of freely available scientific articles by distinguished scientists that are reviewed for younger audiences by "a board of kids." Wonderful concept, excellently executed.

2018 DNA Day Essay Contest for Teachers and Students

Check out the 2018 American Society of Human Genetics' (ASHG) Annual Essay Contest for Grades 9-12. Easy to work into your biology class for extra credit, or to challenge a particular student. Students win cash awards, and their teachers win genetics materials grants. The entry deadline is March 9.
