Dear Jones Families,

Every day provides us with new reasons to be proud of our Jones Eagles. In addition to their academic, creative, and athletic achievements, our kids are among the most thoughtful and other-directed young people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. It is gratifying to see how many of our kids are both aware of and engaged in the world around us. The events of the past few weeks are an excellent demonstration of this.

Yesterday I met with our student leaders (Student Government Association, or SGA, the new Student Voice Committee, and others) to discuss ideas for the projected national student "walk-out" on March 14.  The event is scheduled for the one-month anniversary of the Parkland, Florida, high school shootings which sparked discussion and debate across the country. Our student leaders suggested many ideas as to how they could express their support for changes they feel will help prevent such atrocities in the future. Due to the unique nature of our campus and its location, this will not be a simple matter. Our goal will be to validate and respect our students' voice, ensure their safety, and make this a valuable learning experience in civic engagement.  As our plans develop, we will keep our school stakeholders fully informed.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time at [email protected]
or 773-534-8606.

Sincerely,

P. Joseph Powers, Ph.D.

Sports News

Sophomore Jaden Olson finished the season All-State in the backstroke at the IHSA state meet!
Jaden's top time also means he will likely qualify as an
All-American.

This is a huge accomplishment and the future of the Jones-Payton swim team looks incredibly bright.
Congratulations to Jaden on his accomplishment!

  • Knee-high socks
  • White sneakers/tennis shoes or period high-top footwear (Chucks also okay)
  • Women's shoulder-padded jackets or sweaters
  • Jean jackets
