James Robert Wiesen, "Sonny", at the age of 81, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on January 15, 2018, in St. Petersburg, Fla., with his wife and family.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda D. Wiesen; his children, James D. Wiesen, Theresa Williams, Merigrace Wiesen-Ferris (Will), John Wiesen (Jill), Dina Wiesen, Amy Simarro (Carlos) and Sonya Wiesen; his siblings, Dolly Haight and Jackie Carpenter; his 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Mary Wiesen, of Akron, Ohio, and his siblings, Paul Wiesen and Patricia Gregory.
Sonny was born on November 23, 1936, in Rittman, Ohio, and he graduated from Wadsworth High School in Ohio.
In his family life, he was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle. He was known as a giving man who was always there for his loved ones. His family was his priority; considered a patriarch by many who knew and loved him.
In work, Sonny was an accomplished Mechanic and Truck Driver; retiring from the Teamsters Union in 1999. After retirement, Sonny spent an additional 10 years working as a Mechanic at Arnold's Air Force Base in Tullahoma, Tenn. Sonny was also an active member of the National Guard.
His hobbies included restoring muscle cars, (his infamous Super-Bee known by many), tinkering in the garage, and, most importantly, his love for his pets and animals.
His huge heart, giving spirit, protective nature, and love for his family was admired by the people who will cherish his memories for a lifetime.
You are kindly invited to attend his funeral which is scheduled for January 20th, 2018, with viewing at 11 a.m. and the service directly following at 12 p.m. at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 MLK St. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33704.
Due to the unexpected nature of his passing, there will be an additional Memorial Service and Celebration of Life Service held in Ohio (date to be announced) for any family members and loved ones who are unable to attend this service.
