2018 Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids Youth Advocates of the Year
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids' annual Youth Advocates of the Year Awards honor top youth leaders in the fight against tobacco. These teens have advocated for tobacco prevention policies, taken on the tobacco industry and its deceptive marketing, and helped keep peers tobacco-free.

Each nominee will be recognized at KCSP's Spring Conference on April 11, 2018, in Lexington, making this a great opportunity to show your appreciation for smoke-free policy advocacy in Kentucky.

Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Advocacy Toolkit
Trust for America's Health (TFAH) and partner organizations have prepared a toolkit to advocate for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The toolkit contains, among other things, links to state-by-state fact sheets related to CHIP prepared by the Georgetown University Center for Children and Families and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Scholarships Open for 9th National Farm to Cafeteria Conference
April 25-27, 2018, Cincinnati, OH
This event is the top national training and networking event for farm to cafeteria professionals working to improve community health, build economic opportunities for farmers and producers, and ensure long-term sustainability for local food efforts nationwide. To ensure the conference reflects the full diversity of the movement, scholarships are prioritized for farmers and farm support organizations, farm to college/hospital practitioners, early care and education providers, food service professionals, persons of color, and youth (through age 22). Deadline to apply: February 12, 2018.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Leadership Development
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) has opened applications to their leadership development programs.
A webinar will be held January 23, 2018 from 3:00 to 4:00 EST for the following programs (click on the grant title for more information):

Fiskars Project Orange Thumb Grant Program Application
The Project Orange Thumb Grant Program is awarding $3,500 in gift cards and tools to help applicants support their goals of neighborhood beautification and horticulture education.
Examples of initiatives Project Orange Thumb has supported in the past:
*Gardens that grow produce for school meal programs
*Gardens created to increase environmental and agricultural education in the community
*Gardens donating produce to hunger relief programs
*Gardens for nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and related facilities
*Gardens created to aid in healthy eating and lifestyle educational programs

Kentucky Youth Empowerment System (YES) Mini Grant Application
Any youth group interested in implementing youth-led alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention activities are invited to complete a YES Grant Application through their Regional Prevention Center. Grants up to $2,000 are awarded on an annual basis. Groups must consist of youth in grades 9-12; however, 6-8th grade youth may participate in partnership with high school aged groups.

Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a request for proposals for the Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving (EJCPS) Cooperative Agreement Program. This program provides funding to support community-based organizations that collaborate and partner with local stakeholder groups as they develop and implement solutions to environmental and/or public health issues for underserved communities. Special consideration will be given to high ranking proposals to be performed in rural areas, as defined by the program.
Grant award: EPA anticipates awarding one cooperative agreement of $120,000 within each of the 10 EPA Regions.
Eligibility: Incorporated non-profit organizations, federally recognized tribal governments or tribal organizations.
