This coming Sunday at Entr'acte, Fr Warren concludes a study of some of the writings of St Paul.  Today we will look at the First Epistle of Paul to the Corinthians.

As usual, Entr'acte will meet in the Library this morning between the 9 am and 11:15 am Masses, i.e., around 10:25 am in the Library.

Solemn Evensong & Benediction
Josquin des Prez
Solemn Evensong will be sung this Sunday afternoon, March 18, at 5 pm, by the treble voices of the Advent Choir. Works will include glorious polyphony by Dufay and Josquin, and the beautiful motet Ave verum Corpus by Poulenc.

Our series of Evensong & Benediction Talks continues immediately following the service in Moseley Hall when a light supper will be offered and  Father Jay James will give a brief but engaging overview of the Liturgies of Holy Week. E&B Talks are open to everyone, especially younger parishioners and guests who may not be as familiar with our rich liturgical heritage.

Organ Recital: Prior to the service, at 4:30 pm, organist Jeremiah Stephenson will play a half-hour organ recital featuring works of Bach, Franck and Eben. Mr Stephenson is Currently Assistant Director of Music at All Saints Margaret Street in London. He combines his Sunday duties with a busy career as a freelance recitalist, accompanist and teacher. In England he has performed in such venues as Westminster Abbey, the Royal Festival Hall and Kings College Cambridge.

"The Devil, the Lamb, and the Throne"
The Devil, The Lamb, and the Throne: The Book of Revelation Bible Study - Concluding this Wednesday, Pastoral Assistant Eric Fialho will lead a five-week study of the Book of Revelation. The study will cover the many beguiling and mysterious themes, symbols, and images presented in the last book of the Bible. Close attention will be paid to the book's historical context, its eschatological themes, and its main theme of good versus evil. The study will meet every Wednesday through March 21 at 7:00 pm in the Library.  For this week, please read Chapters 10 -18.

Coming Up: Holy Week
Palm Sunday Pic
Many people make an annual "pilgrimage" to the Advent from out of town and one, at least, even from as far away as the South Pacific! They do this because Holy Week is the most important and crucial time of the year for Christians, and one of the most memorable celebrations we enact in this parish. They find - and so do I - that the Holy Week services and especially those of the Sacred Triduum (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Great Vigil of Easter) are an occasion for real growth in the Faith, for Re-conversion and for Revival.

It is not too early to take a look at your date book and clear it for Thursday through Saturday of Holy Week. Clear it, so that you can be here at the Advent. If you have tickets to this or to that event, change them right now so that you be here for all of the services of the Triduum. These are interconnected and comment, so to speak, on one another. Some people think of them as one service which extends from Maundy Thursday to the Easter Vigil and First Mass. Therefore, no picking and choosing-you must be here for them all.

And if you are, you will be grateful and will understand why I am so urgent in this regard. Growth in the Faith, Re-conversion, and Revival. Wouldn't you say that's worth a week or even three evenings in Church?

Why not invite at least one friend to accompany you to the services of the Triduum (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, the Great Vigil of Easter and Easter Day)? Coming alone can be somewhat daunting, but being invited and attending with a friend is not too great a leap. There are cards at the entrances to the Church. They have all the information about our Holy Week services. Given them to your friends. Take as many as you wish to invite others to commit to join you or simply to come on their own. - Father Warren

Maundy Thursday:
Foot Washing. . . As part of the Maundy Thursday Liturgy, the feet of twelve parishioners are washed by the clergy in imitation of Our Lord's action at the Last Supper with his disciples. If you wish to be part of this very moving ceremony and have your feet washed, please sign up in Moseley Hall.

Could you not watch with me one hour? (Matthew 26:40) A Vigil of prayer and adoration before the Blessed Sacrament will take place on Maundy Thursday following the Solemn Mass until midnight. If you would like to take part, please sign up for a particular period so that we have a person present at all times.

Sunday's Collect
O Almighty God, who alone canst order the unruly wills and affections of sinful men: Grant unto thy people that they may love the thing which thou commandest, and desire that which thou dost promise; that so, among the sundry and manifold changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Collect for the Season:
Almighty and everlasting God, who hatest nothing that thou hast made and dost forgive the sins of all those who are penitent: Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
