Fayetteville Deputy Fire Chief Linda Black is not one to draw attention to herself as she manages the day-to-day operations of three fire stations and looks after dozens of fire department personnel, and that's one reason she is a fitting recipient of the 2017 Ronnie Thames Foundation Silent Heroes Leadership Award.
Presented Sept. 9 at the Georgia Aquarium Oceans Ballroom in Atlanta, the Leadership Award this year was given to Black as well as Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services Chief Landry Merkison.
The 2017 Fayette Idol category winners are (l-r) 11-year-old Maddie Ringelman, 13-year-old Daylon Peterson, 15-year-old Lydia Campbell and 20-year-old Sophia Cuneo. Peterson was the overall champion. (Photo by Mark Turner, Turner Photo Design) READ MORE
