VolunteerVolunteer Needs

Survey Volunteers

We're looking for volunteers who speak Spanish and are available during weekdays to help with our client surveys next week. We'll be conducting the surveys at all of our distribution sites through March 24. You do not need to be fluent, but comfortable enough to carry a conversation. If you're available, please go to the online calendar and find a shift that works for your schedule.

Farmers' Market Drivers

From May to November, AFAC sends teams of volunteers to local farmers' markets to pick up produce donations. Last year we collected almost 70,000 pounds of fresh, locally-grown produce to distribute to AFAC clients. If you feel comfortable driving a cargo van and are available for a shift one or two days a month, please email [email protected] for more information.

Social Worker Hours - Daytime

We offer social workers and health care aides the opportunity to shop for their clients on Tuesday-Thursday from 12:45-2:15 pm at AFAC. We need a volunteer who can help them make their selections. Ideally, we'd like to find someone who can commit weekly on one of the days. These shifts are on our online calendar. We encourage volunteers to try it once or twice before making the commitment.

Growers Wanted

Will you be a Romeo for our Juliets? AFAC needs tomato seedlings for clients and donating gardens. We have special Juliet tomato seeds to distribute to growers. Juliets are a small crack-resistant, sweet, fast growing variety that produces well in our climate and is the preferred tomato at AFAC. For seeds,  contact Puwen at [email protected].

Artists Wanted

A couple rain barrels at AFAC's Walter Reed Garden could use touch-ups and paint-overs. Want to exercise your creative talents? Here's your chance!  Contact Puwen at [email protected].
