Families,
We launched our fourth annual One School, One Book event at an assembly this morning. This year we will be reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, the first in Judy Blume's Fudge series. The story centers on fourth grade Peter Hatcher and his super annoying two-and-a-half-year-old brother, Farley Drexel Hatcher, better known as Fudge. In Peter's view, Peter is held to a higher standard than Fudge, who seems to get away with everything. Sound familiar? Come meet the Hatcher family and fall in love with this well respected children's author and her funny characters. The sequels are waiting for you in our library!.
Our hope is that you will commit to this family time and read with your children. Children who are read to see an increase in early literacy development, benefit from the closeness with family experiencing social emotional gains and have a greater likelihood of school success. A cover letter, a bookmark, and a reading calendar will come home with your eldest child today. If you cannot read the chapter, enjoy the audio links on the Murwood website and they are also provided below.
Teachers will follow up in the classroom with chapter reviews and book talks about the story. Help us build a community of readers by reading chapter one tonight!

From the Office
Have a few hours to spare during the week? We need some help with noon duty Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:45 AM to 1 PM. Call the office if you can help! Come try it out and if it's a fit, we can bring you on for more hours!
If your child has been sick at all, please keep in mind that they need to be symptom free (no fever, vomiting, etc.) for a full 24 hours before returning to school. Let's work together to keep everyone healthy!
Please remember that every time you need to pick up a child during school hours, you must come to the office to show proper identification & sign your child out. We will then call your child up to meet you in the office. Also...To reduce classroom distractions, we also ask that any drop off items or messages be delivered by office staff.
Free Thursday?? We are looking for one parent helper tomorrow morning to assist the District Nurse gathering & returning students to their classrooms for hearing testing. If you would be able to help at all, please contact let the office know.

Box Tops for Education
Got box tops from over the winter break? Remember to clip them from the products you buy, bring them into the office, and PTA will send them off in exchange for money for the school. This can help pay for events such as the parent education/kids movie night we had recently.
