New "Scouting" Mobile App is available now

This is an app for Scouts, and their families... this is not an app for units or
non-unit volunteers.

BSA's Information Technology Group, along with many volunteer beta testers, are excited to announce a new Mobile App - Scouting. This free app is available for both iPhone and Android devices.

Scouting is focused on making it easier for youth and their parents to view and track advancement in the Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting programs (From Lion through Eagle)-as well as youth recognition in the Venturing program.

Search for "Scouting BSA" in the Apple App Store  https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/scouting/id1218464473?mt=8 or Google Play  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bsa.sbm&hl=en... and download today!

The app ties to  Scoutbook.com  and pulls existing advancement data with an enhanced user interface. The offline capability allows parents and youth (13 and older) the ability to access advancement data anywhere at any time.

Once the app is downloaded, parents and youth should use their  Scoutbook.com credentials to login. If you do not have a Scoutbook account, visit   https://www.scoutbook.com/ to create one. Note that a youth and parent can setup a "Scouting" account for the new mobile app--without a unit subscription to  Scoutbook.com

The initial release of the app contains the following functions:
* Track a Scout's advancement
* Track logs like Service Hours, Hiking, and Camping
* View parent and/or Scout profile
* Submit Feedback
* Provide parent access to your Scout(s) account

If you find any issues with this new Scouting app, we invite you to use the "Submit Feedback" feature in the app at the "gear" icon.

Under settings, the new app also supports a night-mode feature, user default data settings, and offline capabilities.

Additional features like a Scout community, notifications, leadership, calendar, and Scout challenges are planned to be added and will be gradually introduced throughout 2018.

SUMMER CAMP STAFF
MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Are you tired of doing the same old thing every summer?  Did you know that the Northern New Jersey Council operates five Scout camps in NJ and NY including Cub Scout, Boy Scout and high adventure programs, a Boy Scout program at Camp Turrell and Camp NoBeBoSco, a High Adventure Trek program at Floodwood Mountain Reservation, a Cub scout Overnight Camp at Camp Lewis, and a Cub Scout Day Camp at Camp Yaw Paw as well as family camp for Cub Scouts at Camp Lewis?

Each of these offers opportunities for a variety of summer camp staff jobs. Most Scout camp counselors are at least 16 years of age, but the Boy Scout and Cub Scout camps have a limited number of jobs for 15 year olds with previous Counselor in Training experience.  The high adventure program employs young people who are at least 18 years of age.

The Northern New Jersey Council, BSA is an equal opportunity employer that hires females and males, as well as people of all ages and ethnic groups, diverse cultures and mixed abilities. No previous Scouting experience is necessary.
