Strive to be more
Dear Parents,
STM students have been very busy successfully applying their skills in a wide variety of events this past week.  During the 3rd quarter, students in 5th grade hone their flexibility to include feats in balancing, tumbling, juggling, cycling, and climbing.  With Mrs. Bauer's guidance, they showcase these skills in the annual St. Thomas More Circus! The younger students ,who were present to watch the action yesterday, are now looking excitedly ahead to their 5th grade year.  Well done, 5th grade!

Yesterday, the Kindergarten students took to the STM stage to enact two Bible plays and sing several church hymns.  The K teachers and music teacher did a marvelous job preparing the students to entertain parents, siblings, and prayer partners.  It is through these wonderful performances that STM students gain the skills they need to be public speakers and school leaders.

It is Pi Day today!  Since 1988, March 14 has traditionally been used to celebrate the mathematical constant, Pi or 3.14. Students in middle school celebrated the day by completing a variety of Pi activities, but one annual tradition remains a favorite:  eating PIE!!!  Thank you to all the parents who contributed to make this a successful treat for the students (and teachers!)..

My greeting to you today ends on a solemn, but prayerful note.  While students across the nation participated in a walkout to honor the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy, STM middle school students gathered in St. Thomas More Cathedral to offer their prayers. Students read victim's names and lit candles to honor their memory.  It was a solemn occasion centered on the power of prayer and it provided an opportunity to reinforce to the students the strength that we can obtain when we turn to God for help. It was also a visible reminder to me that this 8th grade chose "STM Will Turn The World" as their school theme. In their initial presentation to the students last June, they turned a world of chaos into a world of peace. . . through prayer!  How beautiful!  Reporters from the Catholic Herald were present to capture this divine and powerful event.  Please click here to read the Herald article..

God Bless,
