Evensong this Sunday

Find Some Peace and Choir

Evensong, a service of sung evening prayer, finds its roots in the Medieval English church and has become one of the most beloved liturgies of the Episcopal Church.  At Saint Paul's, the choir sings this beautiful service twice a year.  It is celebrated with the singing of glorious canticles, psalms, songs of praise, and petitions for renewal by the Holy Spirit.

The upcoming Evensong on March 4 will include music by Paul Leddington Wright, H. Balfour Gardiner, and Herbert Sumsion.

As John Wesley said, Evensong can be "a container for the immensity of the human spirit: our brokenness, troubles, love, joy, and desires."  The service offers an opportunity to encounter God in quiet contemplation.  At its conclusion one is renewed, consoled, whole.

The service of Evensong is about 45 minutes long and child care is provided. Following the service, worshipers are invited to gather for a lovely reception in Tyler Hall. Evensong is a wonderful occasion to invite family and friends. See you there!

The clergy also will lead Noonday Prayers in the Chapel each Wednesday at 11:45 AM

Confirmation for 9th and 10th graders

My Faith - My Life -- grades 6-12
Youth Formation held in the Youth Room, Upstairs Parish House.  But first, breakfast to get the morning going!

SPARK -- Ages 8-10 or grades 3-5
Location: Room #1, Children's Ministries Center
Our older children will again immerse themselves in SPARK, where they will work with the same themes and Scripture that we all encounter in common worship. Every lesson follows a four-part pattern: Gather, Open the Bible, Activate Faith, and Send. Week after week, the children and their leaders gather together, explore the Scriptures, enjoy one another's company, pray, and discover God's presence in their midst.
Godly Play -- Ages 4-7
Location: Room #2 Children's Ministry Center
ALL children inherently know God, but it is up to us to give them the language of the Christian faith so they can grow to make meaning of our faith in their own lives. Godly Play is a profound method rooted in Montessori principles that forms child spirituality by attending to their natural gifts for wonder and discovery.
Next Week March 5 - March 11

It's for YOU too!
Godly Play for Adults!
Monday, March 5, 6:30 - 8:00 PM

Why are these figures of people standing in the desert? Who are they? What will God say to you through their story? Come  this Monday  evening and experience  Godly Play for Adults .

WHO:  This formation program is open to all adults and will be especially engaging for those who are curious about encountering God through the art deep listening and storytelling.

WHAT:    Godly Play for Adults  is an opportunity for YOU to participate in the same program of faith formation that the parish  offers our children. We gather in a holy space, sit in a circle, deeply listen one of God's stories, wonder about it, then ponder its meaning for us as we respond through a variety of creative options such as doodling, painting, journaling, etc., and finally we will close with a light snack-a symbolic feast. This is a new formation offering for adults among Augusta's Episcopal churches and usually takes one evening a month at Episcopal Day School, but this month Saint Paul's is hosting the event in our Godly Play room. This is not an event  about Godly Play ; we will  do Godly Play !

WHERE:  Godly Play room, located at the end of the hallway in the Children's Ministry wing past the office reception area. Enter the Church office from the main doors accessible from the 6th St. parking lot.

WHEN:
Monday, March 5th, 6:30 - 8:00 PM

RSVP/Contact: if you are likely to attend OR want to know more for a future event, email John Jenkins.
