Step Therapy Bill Introduced in Senate

Latest State Budget Forecast Shows Slight Surplus
A little over one week into the new legislative session, lawmakers learned that they were dealing with a $329 million surplus, according to the budget forecast released Feb. 28 by the Minnesota Management and Budget Office. Read more here.

Medical Student Section to Hold Policy Pep Rally March 9
Come join the MMA's Medical Student Section (MMA-MSS) on March 9 from noon to 1 p.m. for a Policy Pep Rally on the University of Minnesota campus. The location is to be determined so stay tuned to the MMA-MSS Twitter page for updates (@MnMedMSS). At the rally, MMA Policy Council Chair Lisa Mattson, MD, will discuss her experience attending past MMA Day at the Capitols. Come and learn about how to talk to a legislator, and what medical students can expect when they attend Day at the Capitol on March 14! Lunch will be provided.

Deadline Extended for Med students, Residents and Fellows Research Program
The deadline for medical students, residents and fellows to submit abstracts of original research or clinical vignettes for possible inclusion in Minnesota Medicine has been extended to March 15. The submissions demonstrating appropriate quality will be selected for publication in the magazine and authors will be invited to present their work in a poster session at the MMA's 2018 Annual Conference in St. Paul. Submissions should be no longer than 500 words plus references. Research abstracts should include a brief description of the research problem, methodology and results, and a discussion of the findings. Clinical vignettes should include a description of the case, the diagnosis and treatment approach, and a discussion of the implications of the case. Submit your abstracts and vignettes here.
