"The Ethics of Healthy Donor Relationships"

Every development professional sometimes wonders if our cultivation of major donors is self-serving or disingenuous. We want to treat our donors with special care, but avoid any perception we are only interested in their money. Schuyler Lehman will lead this conversation with over 30 years of experience in cultivating major donors and closing hundreds of seven- and eight-figure gifts. He will share helpful insights and best practices to help you deeply connect the heart of your top donors to the heart of your mission and do so without crossing any ethical boundaries.
Schuyler Lehman

Schuyler Lehman has helped raise more than $5 billion for a wide variety of nonprofit organizations (religious, educational, social service, civic, youth, community, healthcare, cultural) since 1983. He has personally conducted over 50 major capital and endowment campaigns on a local, statewide, regional, national and international level. Schuyler has provided consultation and advice to more than 1,000 other nonprofits throughout the U.S. and Canada for major campaigns, annual funds and general development activities. He has assisted with private and public grants, solicited major gifts from corporations, foundations and individual donors, conducted board planning retreats, developed strategic plans, provided training to thousands of nonprofit volunteers, and served as a presenter at professional conferences.

President's Message

Dear Friends and Fellow Fundraisers,
Sarah Elliott headshot

It's February and LOVE is in the air! As fundraising executives, we all know how important it is to use this month to reconnect with our donors and remind them how much we appreciate their support. So, as your local AFP chapter, we want to use this month to reconnect with our members to get your ideas on what we can do to make your AFP experience better. Be on the lookout for a member survey soon, and please show us your LOVE by completing it (we promise to keep it brief)!

As President of AFP Dallas, I'm constantly getting feedback about how much members and guests LOVE networking, so our AFP chapter will be providing new ways to network at our AFP events. For February's meeting and luncheon, open networking begins at 11:30am as usual, but table-based networking begins right at 11:45am. Our AFP board members will serve as table hosts to welcome guests, facilitate networking, and answer any questions you may have about AFP and our upcoming events.

For those looking for a world-class professional development experience, AFP's International Conference is coming up April 15-17 in New Orleans . We would LOVE for you to join us at the conference - and at a special reception for our Texas chapters (another networking opportunity!). Until then, I look forward to seeing each of you at our next AFP Dallas program luncheon on February 28th at Arlington Hall.

XOXO,

Sarah Elliott, President
