H-F FYI - March 14, 2018

A Message from the Superintendent

Earlier today, hundreds of our students participated in a National School Walkout, some wrote letters to representatives and administrators about safety, and our school as whole dedicated a moment of silence in remembrance of the victims of violence, including the 17 who lost their lives at Stoneman Douglas High School a month ago today in Parkland, Fla. Our students were thoughtful, respectful and mature during the demonstrations, held inside and outside of both buildings. We are very proud of our students, and we thank them - especially the members of our Principal's Advisory Committee and others - who organized the morning. We'd also like to thank our parents and guardians who spoke with their students about the importance of this moment.

Please know that at H-F safety and security are top priorities, along with academic growth and social-emotional support. Our social workers, school counselors, teachers, staff and administrators are all dedicated to creating a secure, welcoming and nurturing environment for all of our students. Should you or your student need extra support, please reach out to any administrator or call our Guidance & Counseling Office at 708-335-5612. This website link from the National Association of School Psychologists also offers tips for speaking to your student about these issues. As always, thank you for your continued support of our school and our students.

HFU Workshop: Senioritis 101 - March 21 at 7 p.m.
