Today at 10 am, approximately 150 North Royalton Middle School students participated in a student-organized walkout designed to memorialize the 17 victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting and to call for increased school safety. These students gathered on the playground area outside the building. They stood or walked silently on the playground for 17 minutes and quietly returned to class immediately afterward.  North Royalton police officers secured our campus leading up to this time and throughout the walkout. I would like to thank the North Royalton Police Department and the middle school staff for their continuous support in keeping everyone safe.

Regardless of their decision to participate or not, I am proud of our entire student body for the respect and support they show each other every day.  Our students are an excellent representation of the caring families who have raised them.

Sincerely,

Jeff
