The NMFO would like to thank Kurtwood Smith and Chris Conrad for joining us at the New Mexico Bowl this past weekend, they are in town filming Our Lady, LTD which will premier on EPIX next year, you can also see both of them in Patriot on Amazon.

The New Mexico Bowl was the last official event for NMFO Director, Nick Maniatis. We wish Nick and his family all the best in the next chapter of their lives. Thank you for all you have done for the New Mexico Film Office and for the film community as a whole, you will be missed!

The Annual New Mexico Filmmakers Showcase is open to all New Mexico residents and students. This year we will be accepting submissions via FilmFreeway and IndieOn will be hosting the voting for the Audience Award.

New Mexico Girls Make Movies

This FILMCAST is all about education, training and opportunity for New Mexico Girls in the NM film industry. Join us with NMGMM Founder & Director Jocelyn Jansons and Producer (and former Film Office intern!) Barb Odell as they describe how they got where they are today, their particular journeys and their inspiration and drive to bring more young women into the film industry. New Mexico Girls Make Movies provides education, job training and set placements for young women ages 12-25 in the film industry. If you think you might want to write a script, shoot a movie, hold a boom mic - or any of the dozens of job opportunities in NM, don't miss this conversation.

What productions have shot in your area?

The Danish film “Time Out” in addition to several commercials and music videos.

How can you help filmmakers that come to your area?

We have a very diverse area from rugged mountains, flat dry lake beds, high Sonoran desert to plush fields and orchards. I have a wealth of knowledge about all of those locations and other resources available to filmmakers coming to our community.

What do you consider to be a unique location in your jurisdiction?

In addition to the wide variety of locations and sites in Hidalgo County we have two privately owned ghost towns - Shakespeare & Steins, the Gila & Coronado National Forests, the Peloncillo & Pyramid Mountains; Pyramid Mountains and Granite Gap (Boulder Canyon).
