TACC Convenes Congressional Representatives and Business Leaders
|

Last week, the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce proudly produced its annual State of the Region luncheon, presented by
Sunrider International
. The event featured addresses from each of the Torrance area's Congressional Representatives, Maxine Waters, 43rd District, and Ted Lieu, 33rd District.
Waters and Lieu spoke about myriad issues facing our region, including transportation, infrastructure and cyber security. The TACC extends its sincere appreciation to both Waters and Lieu for their thoughtful addresses to members and business leaders. St. Patrick's Day Golf Tournament to Benefit South Bay Charity
|
|
The 24th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Golf Tournament benefitting the South Bay Police & Fire Memorial Foundation (SBPFMF) will be held on Monday, March 26th at Los Verdes Golf Club. SBPFMF encompasses safety personnel from nine South Bay Cities. Monies raised from the tournament provide emergency financial support to police officers and fire fighters in times of hardship due to illness and/or death.

DACA Decision: California Employer Update
|
|
The Supreme Court’s recent denial of a Trump administration bid to expedite a legal challenge to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program means, for the time being, California employers can continue to legally employ Dreamers with DACA status.
Status quo for the DACA program also means that Congress is unlikely to take up comprehensive immigration reform anytime soon. This issue is critical to California employers because more than 200,000 Dreamers live and work in the state.

Special thanks are extended to Torrance Memorial Hospital, the Torrance Fire Department and the Torrance Police Department for hosting the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation's LEAD students. Twenty six TUSD High School sophomores are participating in the program; which seeks to promote leadership skills, encourage involvement with their community and hone in on their future goals and career paths through dynamic experiences.

Meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 12pm at the TACC office. (Note our new location!) RSVP is required by email & a light lunch is provided. GAP members discuss and establish Chamber positions on various legislative issues that are of significance to the Torrance area business community.
