Take a chance at tuition credit or a cash prize in the "I-rish You Luck" raffle! The luck of the Irish is in your favor since we only have 300 opportunities available to win. You might take a chance by yourself or invite friends and family to join you in the purchase of a ticket (sharing the proceeds among yourselves). We will pull the lucky ticket on March 23 at YC.

"I-rish You Luck" Week helps guarantee we can keep tuition rates to a minimum compared to the actual cost per pupil. As a result, every family is strongly encouraged to participate.

Keep an eye on your mailbox for order forms and details about purchasing tickets.

Spring Celebration
You are cordially invited to the 3rd Annual Spring Celebration presented by The Stewart Companies, a festive evening of cocktails, dining, silent and live auctions, student presentations, music, and camaraderie on Saturday, April 28, from 6-10 PM at the Country Club of York.

Please join us as we celebrate our YC pride and successes throughout the year.  All proceeds raised from this enchanting evening will benefit our York Catholic Fund, enabling us to invest in tuition assistance for those in need, a vibrant curriculum, technology upgrades, the arts and athletics, resources for our valued teachers, and the beautification and safety of our school.

Our planning committee is actively seeking donations for our live and silent auctions.  If you can contribute a gift certificate to a local restaurant or business, tickets to a sporting/cultural event, local attraction or getaway, it will truly help our efforts and make a difference in the lives of our students.  All donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes and grateful acknowledgement at the Spring Celebration.   Click for auction item information  or  sponsorship opportunities .    Volunteer opportunities are also currently available.

Parent Referral Program
If you know a friend, family member or anyone looking for a high-quality, Christ-centered education for their children who do not already attend a Catholic school, you could receive a $50 credit toward your child's tuition at York Catholic, with a chance to win a $500 credit.

York Catholic's Parent Referral Program is a win-win for everyone involved. Referred students receive an outstanding education from York Catholic, while parents of the referred families get peace of mind knowing their child is gaining so much more than just a top-notch education.  Families who refer someone who registers at York Catholic receive a $50 credit towards their child's tuition.

You, as parents, are our best ambassadors.   In order for the Parent Referral Program to be a success, we need information about individuals who may be interested in joining the York Catholic family. All you need to do is click here to fill out the form. During the registration process, if you are listed as the referring individual for a friend or other enrolling individual, we will credit your child 's account with $50.  In May, one family who referred someone who enrolled at YC will be randomly selected to win a $500 tuition credit.

It really is that simple. So go ahead. Please click on the link above and allow us the opportunity to do what we love - help to develop, nurture and encourage children so they may grow in faith, mind, and heart. Mail or email the form to us and we will take it from there!

Thank you for all you do for our school!
Mission Collection:  The Travis Roy Foundation
The March Mission Collection will support The Travis Roy Foundation.  In the first eleven seconds of his first hockey game freshman year at Boston University, Travis missed a check and went head first into the boards suffering a paralyzing injury from the neck down.

Travis then started The Travis Roy Foundation to raise money to find better ways to treat spinal cord injuries. None of the money goes towards research or treatments that involve stem cells. His foundation's main goal is to make daily life easier for the paralyzed.

A wiffle ball tournament is held every summer in Vermont to raise funds for the Foundation.  Last year the wiffle ball tournament raised over $600,000.  York Catholic alumni Paul Martello, Alec Lloyd, CJ Burnside, Elliott Gangloff, Teddy Trapeni, and current student, Sammy Trapeni, were selected from a wide range of applicants to participate in this year's tournament and the funds YC students contribute will go toward their team's total for The Travis Roy Foundation.

Please give generously to this important cause linked to our York Catholic and Ice Hockey community.
For the Kids Friday

As part of our support of the Four Diamonds for our Mini-THON event, students may pay $1 to wear blue or gold shirts for the Fridays leading up to Mini-THON. Blue is the official color of the Four Diamonds and yellow is the color recognized in the fight against pediatric cancer. Students should pay their $1 in homeroom on Friday. Uniform pants, skirts, or skorts must be worn.
Mini-THON
On March 10, over 250 York Catholic students (more than half of our senior high enrollment) will once again join the efforts of over 265 high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools to have fun and work to conquer pediatric cancer. Based on Penn State's successful THON, a 46-hour dance marathon, Mini-THON challenges students to stay on their feet while participating in a number of high energy activities including dodgeball, speedball, four square, and Zumba . All proceeds accumulated through the efforts of Mini-THON are donated directly to The Four Diamonds at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital in Hershey, PA.  In five years, York Catholic has raised over $7 5,000 to help conquer pediatric cancer. This year our goal is to raise $19,000 and raise awareness "For the Kids." Donations can be given to Mrs, Wertz in room 103 at YC or paid online using The Four Diamonds Online Social Fundraising Website, DonorDrive at https://fourdiamonds.donordrive.com/event/yorkcatholicminithon

Students are reminded to wear their Mini-THON t-shirts, sneakers, and pants or modest shorts that meet the extra-curricular dress code.
Calendar Adjustments
Make-up Days
When the school calendar was created, we built in 4 snow days. We have now used 5. We made up the extra day on Presidents' Day, February 19. Any additional snow days we use will be made up during our Easter Break. If we need to make up one additional day, we will be in session Thursday, March 29. If we need to make up two additional days, we will also be in session Monday, April 2.

End of School Year
We have made some adjustments to our calendar for the close of school that will keep our focus on the importance of academic success as we wind down for summer break. Please note the following changes:

Final Exams will move to the last three days of school (June 5, 6, 7). Students will have 15 minutes after the last exam each day to return any outstanding materials to teachers and report to homeroom for closing prayer and announcements. Dismissal will remain at 11 AM for all students on each of these days.

Friday, June 1, we will host Junior High Awards combined with 8th Grade Moving On & Junior High Student Council Inductions at 1:30 PM. At the conclusion of the assembly, 7th graders will report to period 8 and 8th graders will report to the cafeteria for a Moving On Reception. Senior High will run on regular schedule.

Monday, June 4, we will host Senior High Awards, Junior Ring Ceremony and Senior High Student Council Inductions at 1:30 PM. At the conclusion of the assembly, 9th and 10th graders will report to period 8 and 11th graders will report to the cafeteria for a Junior Ring Reception. Junior High will run on regular schedule.

Both Awards Ceremonies will include all awards except those that require a final average for the year to be recognized (the top of the class for the year and honors all 4 quarters). During the first week of school in August at the 2018-19 Back to School Mass with the entire student body, we will take an extra 15 minutes to welcome 7th grade and recognize all 8th through 12th graders who earned end of the year awards the previous year as a result of their final average.

Report cards will be mailed home Friday, June 15.

Staff Update
We have an update regarding three staff members.

Mrs. Annalina Vaira, part-time French teacher, will not be returning from her maternity leave.  We previously communicated the plan for coverage of French II and French III for the remainder of the school year to those students and families.

For personal reasons, Mrs. Stacey White has resigned from the position of Spiritual Life Coordinator.  The Religion Department, Administration, Father Sawicki, and Father Richards will be  fulfilling the duties of that office for the remainder of the school year.

Mrs. Carolyn Obermeier will be on medical leave for approximately three weeks beginning  March 7 .  Mrs. Nicole Ivovich will fill in for Mrs. Obermeier during her absence.  Mrs. Castellanos will also continue to work closely with the AAC students as usual during that time period.
World Languages Week

On Thursday, March 8, we will celebrate our cultural heritages with a World Languages Mass planned by our Language Department at 10:20 AM in the auditorium. Prayers and music will be in English, Spanish, French, Latin, Chinese, and some of the other languages spoken by our students.
Spring Sports Begin

Spring sports teams begin practices on Monday, March 5, for senior high and Wednesday, March 7, for junior high. For exact practice times, contact the head coach or Mr. Bankos at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x214.

Inclement Weather
During inclement weather that would cause a school closing or delay of schedule, York Catholic will call/text/email you through our One Call Now Emergency Notification system.  Other modes of notification include WGAL TV-8, Fox43, and the YC website.  Students from individual school districts are automatically excused if their district closes and does not provide transportation to YCHS.  The exceptions to this are Southern and Southeastern.  These students follow York Catholic's delay and closing schedule.
