NAIOP Pittsburgh held its 25th annual awards banquet Thursday evening at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The honorees were:

Best Build-to Suit Office: 100 McMichael Road, Sampson Morris Group
Best Spec Industrial:  300 Crown Court, Ashford Imperial Associates
Best Office Renovation:  Nova Place, Faros Properties
Best Mixed-Use Development:  3 Crossings, Oxford Development Co.
Best Green Renovation:  Energy Innovation Center, Pittsburgh Gateways
Driver of Development:The PNC Financial Services Group
Supporter of Development: Dennis Yablonsky


Project News  

Two sectors driving Pittsburgh's economy - healthcare and high tech - are making the construction news highlights. UPMC selected Rycon Construction for its $9 million Chartwell Lab project. UPMC also awarded TEDCO the $1 million Children's Adolescent Medicine project at University Center. Construction on the 59,000 square foot medical office and outpatient surgery center for Heritage Valley next to the Beaver Valley Mall, a project Sentinel is managing for Castlebrook Development. Amazon made news with the announcement of a 25,000 square foot expansion of its space at South Side Works. TEDCO Construction is the local general for that work. CMU selected Jendoco Construction for its $13 million buildout of the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Institute at Mill 19 in Hazelwood Green. PJ Dick was selected by CMU for its $20 million Posner Hall/GSIA renovation.

The Pittsburgh Builders Exchange is reporting that the bid date for the new $75 million Altoona High School is March 21. PBX also reports that the $27 million WCCC Founder's Hall will bid March 29. Turner is the CM for that project. Final revisions will be priced by Mascaro, Mosites and PJ Dick for the $40 million Providence Point expansion. DiMarco Construction was awarded the new 28,000 square foot office building for Elwood City Forge.

Strada announced the promotion of Abby Mountain to senior associate. Abby joined Strada nearly 16 years ago and after five years moved to another firm. She returned to Strada in 2012 and became an associate of the firm three years later. Abby is a graduate of Kent State University where she earned a Master of Architecture in urban design, a Bachelor of Architecture, and a Bachelor of Science. Abby is a registered architect and a certified planner.

PJ Dick was awarded the 2018 Construction Safety Excellence Award at the Association of General Contractors (AGC) of America conference in New Orleans, LA. Sponsored by Willis Towers Watson, this is a national awards competition that recognizes companies who have developed and implemented excellent safety and loss prevention programs.
