Toronto Paramedic Services were 1st place winners in the 11th annual Anchors Away competition of first-responders.
|
Kicking off Water Safety Awareness Day, Anchors Aweigh teams in The Lake at noon on Tuesday included
Toronto Police Services, Toronto Firefighters Association, Toronto Paramedic Services and the Canadian Navy, represented by HMCS York.
After teams of four carried 20-lb. anchors a length of The Lake through the icy waters, victory went to
Toronto Paramedic Services, along with
a trophy and a $300 donation to their charity of choice, courtesy of Toronto Boat Show.

MARKETING - BUY/SELL A BOAT & WIN

Pam Gostlin (shown here) of Walsten Marine won $100 on Monday when she sold a boat, entered a ballot into the 2018 Buy a Boat & Win program, and her ballot was drawn.
A total of 58 boats were sold Tuesday by dealers who submitted ballots.
Tuesday's winner will be announced in the next newsletter.

Harold Copping
Honoured With Hall of Fame Award

Harold Copping was honoured for his constant focus on innovation, leadership, and dedication to the industry.
|
NMMA Canada has inducted
Harold Copping, former president of SeaStar Solutions (formerly Teleflex Canada Ltd.), into the NMMA Hall of Fame.
"Harold has provided great contributions to the development of modern marine industry steering systems and more, helping to drive our industry forward through his forward thinking," said NMMA Canada president Sara Anghel. "We honour him with the Hall of Fame award in recognition of his constant focus on innovation, leadership, and dedication to the industry."
The induction ceremony took place Tuesday, during NMMA Canada's Recreational Boating Industry Breakfast at the Beanfield Centre.

New - Kayak/canoe Polo on The Lake
|
Greater Toronto Canoe Polo will compete in demonstration games to promote the sport of kayak/canoe polo, as well as the Canoe Polo World Championships, hosted in Welland, ON, August 1 to 5.
Short demos take place on The Lake, Sunday at 10:30am, 1pm and 3:15pm.

Located in Salon 102 (just west of the Show Office), the Exhibitor Lounge offers a quiet break from the show, FREE internet service, a microwave for your use, soup, salad, sandwiches, a hot dish of the day, and a selection of beverages.
Today's hot dish is beef chili for $14.50.

First Aid Procedures at the Show

If an emergency requiring paramedics arises, please alert any of the following and explain the location.
- Boat show staff member
- Show Office (416-263-3185)
- Information booth staff
- Lake staff
- Show security guards (at entrances, exits, roving)
We will radio paramedics and direct them to the location.
If the situation is non-urgent, you can also direct the individual to the
Show Office (Salon 103), where paramedics can meet them.
