The Carpenters illustrated the benefits of using the coop model to ensure high quality and traceability while also smoothing out the purchasing process and helping ensure consistent supply. The coop has found that consumers are willing to pay more for higher quality herbs with higher concentrations of bioactive compounds.

A nascent organic herbal cooperative model in Vermont offers the promise of increasing domestic herbal ingredient sources. The founders say they have been pleasantly surprised that demand for these higher priced materials has consistently outstripped supply.
