Rutgers Supports Building an Innovation Ecosystem in NJ
Several leaders from Rutgers' Office of Research and Economic Development recently testified before state legislators and key stakeholders on the importance of building a strong innovation ecosystem in New Jersey and how the state, industry and academia can collaborate to support such an ecosystem.

Impending EU General Data Protection Regulations Revisions
Researchers conducting research with human subjects in the European Union need to familiarize themselves with the soon-to-be revised EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). The GDPR is designed to enhance data protection by strengthening the rules for protecting individuals' privacy rights and freedoms for EU residents. A summary of the key impact on researchers is available
online. As guidance becomes more concrete and clear, the Office of Research Regulatory Affairs will post information on its Human Subjects Protection Program
website.
Rutgers Provides Thought Leadership on Research Commercialization in Panama
Vince Smeraglia, Executive Director of Strategic Alliances in the Office of Research Commercialization, recently presented at a conference in Panama City, Panama focusing on relationships between academia and industry. The conference participants included research commercialization professionals from universities all across Panama and focused on translational sciences, potential conflicts of interest in research, and the differences between U.S. and Panamanian patent law.
New Activity Button for Rutgers Foundation Review
An activity button has been added to the RAPSS system for submitting units to initiate a Rutgers Foundation Review of a Funding Proposal at the time of submission. The review will help determine if the Foundation fee is applicable to a specific proposal. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs can also initiate contact with the Rutgers Foundation after a proposal has been submitted for setup. Once approved or denied by the Foundation, all involved can view the Foundation's determination from the Award Information screen in RAPSS. All requests for a fee waiver must be directed to the Rutgers Foundation.
Research Council Accepting Grant Proposals Through March 30
The Rutgers Research Council is accepting proposals for the Spring 2018-2019 Cycle. Through awards up to $5,000, the Research Council supports studies leading to significant outside funding and publication in all fields of learning represented at Rutgers as well as creative work in the arts. NSF CAREER Workshop - April 19
A workshop for faculty who are planning to submit a proposal to the NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program in 2018 or in the future will be held on Thursday, April 19, 1-3:30 p.m., at the Busch Student Center. Read more
