RDGA NAMED AS OFFICIAL
'ALLIED GOLF ASSOCIATION' OF USGA
ONE OF ONLY 59 AGAs
RECOGNIZED BY USGA
For most of our existence, the
Rochester District Golf Association has enjoyed a symbiotic relationship with the
United States Golf Association. From serving as the local practitioner of the
Rules of Golf, to hosting local
USGA qualifying events at
RDGA-Member courses, the RDGA and USGA have often partnered together in the best interests of golf in the
Rochester area.
On Wednesday, January 10, that working relationship between our two organizations became official, with the announcement that the
RDGA is now an official representative of the
USGA - serving golfers in the Rochester area as an "
Allied Golf Association," or
AGA.
The announcement revealed that 59 golf associations at the state, local and regional level across the country - including he RDGA - were officially named as AGAs, beginning in 2018. This was the end result of more than a year-long screening process which sought to determine which local associations - among more than 100 such organizations throughout the U.S. - were the best fit to match the goals and mission of the USGA. In some cases, smaller associations were asked to collaborate and join forces with larger organizations to create bigger, more all-inclusive associations under the USGA banner.
We, the Board, staff and membership of the RDGA, are proud to be included among the USGA's official Allied Golf Associations. We look forward to providing our Members and Member Clubs with the best golf services and experiences available!
about this exciting new partnership!
