CONVENTION 2018
For you who were unable to be present on Sunday, February 25, here is the homily delivered by Leah MacSwords, our Senior Warden

“One bread, one body, one Lord of all, one cup of blessing which we bless. And we, though many, throughout the earth, we are one body in this one Lord.”

Convention of the Diocese of Lexington...
The clear theme of the convention was reconciliation.... Bishop Bruce [Caldwell] said that healing needs to be undertaken in our diocese. He suggested that we update our leadership model, find ways to share services, value everyone, listen with our hearts, and practice reconciliation. It will be a struggle, he said, but we must sit down and wrestle with our differences....
At this convention, we voted by a chorus of "ayes" to place ourselves under the provisional charge and authority of
Bishop Mark Van Koevering
.... Bishop Van Koevering is a Michigan native. He served in the Peace Corp in Thailand. He was ordained deacon and priest in the Anglican Church of Wales and served churches in Wales and Mozambique before being called as the bishop of the Diocese of Niassa in Mozambique in 2003. Since 2015, he has served as the Assisting Bishop of the Diocese of West Virginia.
The selection of Bishop Van Koevering was described as the "rent to own" option. If we like him and he likes us, after a few years, the diocese can elect to call him as our permanent bishop. This process saves the diocese the tremendous cost of a traditional search for a bishop. Bishop Van Koevering began his new duties immediately upon adjournment of the convention.

All are invited to come together for homemade soup and bread, from 6:00-6:30 p.m. Stay for the Book Study with Father Neat, or Family Lenten Activities in the parish hall, from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Thursdays, 5:30-7:00 p.m.
After Evening Prayer, stay to share a light meal and Bible study with Mother Nancy.

Saturday, March 3, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Opened by the Benedictine Cell with a short introduction and practice of centering prayer, a 2000-year-old Christian meditation practice.

- Yes, we are still looking for Coffee Hour hosts and helpers! Do you have a team, group, family or partner who could bring in a few light/simple snacks, and/or help serve and clean up, for our important time of fellowship after the 10:30 service on Sunday? If you would like to host Coffee Hour, please sign up on the printed sheet on the office window (or contact Jan Stevens - see below). The coffee itself is provided by the Men's Club, and vestry members have agreed to pitch in on Sundays when no one else is scheduled, but we encourage everyone to share in this ministry as you are able.
- Jan Stevens is our Hospitality Coordinator - contact her by email at jstevens5@aol.com to discuss Coffee Hour questions, needs and procedures. If you can bring treats but need a helper, or vice versa, Jan can help you team up!
