New Parking Rules Make Superior Streets Safer
|
Preserving the quality of life in Superior’s neighborhoods requires effort from us all. Toward this end, the Town Board has approved a
new parking ordinance to address a growing community concern – the obstruction of residential streets due to trailers parked for several days. This new ordinance is intended to enhance safety in our roadways. The new rules now prohibit semi-trailers from parking along public streets or right of way adjacent to a residential lot. It also reduces the time any other trailer or recreational vehicle is allowed to be
|
|
parked on a public street from five days to 48 hours.

The Historical Commission is pleased to announce two important upcoming annual events:
“The Columbine Mine Massacre” is the subject of this year’s Spring Educational Program.
Gerry Morrell will present the evening of
April 19, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Board Room. Mr. Morrell is the President of the Lafayette Historical Society and will present his PowerPoint program on this awful event in Colorado History. This incident happened in 1927 at a mine site between Lafayette and Erie in which 6 striking miners were killed by state militia machine gun fire.
Scheduled for

Historic Walk Through Original Superior. Volunteers will lead a walk from the Superior Historical Museum to Grasso Park and then to the Industrial Mine site south of Coal Creek. Leaders will point out foundations of the buildings connected with the mine and the Industrial Mine Camp. We will also point out the specific location of the now closed mine shaft.
Thanks go out to

March roars in like a lion and leaves like a lamb. Don’t let the small amount of snowfall we received in February deceive you, it is still very dry in open space and the green belts around Town. The chinook winds Boulder County is known for rapidly “eat away” the snow but they also dry out the fine grasses and dead vegetation not covered in snow. On these
windy days, the humidity level drops and dry grasses will burn more easily on south and west facing slopes having lost their moisture to the warm wind. Any grass fire has the potential to spread rapidly on a high wind day. Pay attention to high wind warnings and don’t use chimineas, charcoal grills and open flames when it is windy.
To
prevent losing your patio furniture, umbrellas and trashcans be sure to properly tie them down or move them inside or to a sheltered location during wind events. During high winds patio furniture and trashcans frequently are blown into neighbors’ yards and sometime are never found again. While losing furniture is a problem, it is also dangerous to pedestrians and personal property.
