March 2018 Newsletter from the Figaro Owners Club - Issue No: 96
Good Evening ,

Welcome to our March 2018 Newsletter!

I am writing this as the 'beast from the east' is literally trying to penetrate my 'easterly facing' double glazed office windows! With the UK feeling more like Siberia at the moment, spring cannot come quick enough for me and with the Ace Cafe just 5 weeks away, let's hope a warm spell is on its way very soon.

On Monday I decided to shoot a short video on ' Figaro Car Covers' and it was so cold I ended up doing it in my garage, bad timing indeed! Anyway it went well and is a nice addition to the article on condensation and car covers below.

Thank again to Brian Akre who wrote to us about a mishap he had with his engine. It's an interesting tale and indeed taught me an important lesson on where to position future rally plates? I assume you are totally confused now, so scroll down and it will all make perfect sense.

Lastly, congratulations to Sarah Holloway too for winning our latest caption competition.

New 'Personal Data Management' Laws

Members may not be aware but in May of this year the way organisations (including car club's) handle personal data is changing.  Going under the name of GDPR ( General Data Protection Regulation) the new regulations will strengthen and unify data protection for individuals within the European Union (EU).

Following an internal review, we can confirm The Figaro Owners Club will comply fully within the time frame required. We take very seriously the security of every members personal data. Learn more

About the club

How the club started
My son Daniel had always wanted a Figaro, having seen the car at our local garage when he was just 16. After saving for a number of years (plus a small contribution from his mum and dad) he brought an Emerald Green model in June 2008.

Following the purchase we scoured the internet for a members club in the hope that we could attend events with other owners, but were amazed that none existed...and so the Figaro Owners Club was born!  We decided to build a website and forum which took 6 months, and on the 1st March 2009 we pressed the 'publish button' and waited to see if anyone wanted to join. Within a week we had 10 members, a month 35 and a year 478 members.

Today the club has around 1,300 members worldwide in countries including New Zealand, Japan, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden and many more.
We are grateful to you and all our other members for help and encouragement throughout our journey as the club has grown into a passion which has taken over our lives - we FIGure in a good way.
Warmest Regards
